PORRIDGETIME! Smile Jul 31, 2012
Categories : Chinese | Restaurant | Porridge

Shredded Chicken and Century Egg porridge [RM6.50]. The century egg pieces given was very disappointing. We think they only gave us half on a century egg for such a generous amount of porridge. This porridge was really smooth and good. The pork innards porridge had more taste. I had also have tried before their frog porridge, which was also not too bad smile

Pork Innards Porridge [RM 7.50]. This porridge contains of pork a mixture of pig innards. That brown thing on top of the porridge are actually fried pork intestines which was really crunchy and crispy and went really well with the porridge. The additional slices of ginger and spring onions just made the aroma of the porridge better.

Categories : Taiwanese | Café | Stall / Warung | Noodles | Juices / Bubble Tea / Tea / Yogurt

Taiwan is at the top of the list of the few countries that we MUST go some day in our lives. The main reason is that that country is famous for it's food. Now, with all the technology and how the world is improving, we don't only get to eat Taiwanese food in Taiwan itself. We already can have their food in our country. Honestly, the Taiwanese food is starting to conquer the food industry in Malaysia. Like the bubble tea, taiwanese desserts like Snowflake and not to forget their snacks like the XXL chicken and the mee sua that can be found in various stalls like Shihlin, Farmosa and Xiao Bar Wang, the stall that we are going to talk about today.

I ordered their Jumbo Set [RM15.90]. Their Jumbo Set consist of a bowl of Mee Sua with meat balls, one Tea Egg, Crispy Chicken and a drink of you choice, which you can choose from Flower Tea, Black Sugar Lime and Milk Tea. Let's start with their Mee Sua. Comparing to other Taiwanese stalls, the smell of the Mee Sua isn't as strong because they didn't use Oyster. They replaced it with meat balls. But we really like it. The consistency was good and the noodles were soft and the soup had the right amount of seasoning. With additional cilantro and a little chili paste, the mee sua tasted even better with a better aroma. Not to forget the amount of mee sua was so much, it can be shared for two people. For the Tea Egg, it was just average, nothing special. But I really like the drink we ordered! We had their Black Sugar Lime. It wasn't too sour. Had the right amount of sweetness. A suitable drink for a hot day.

This is their Crispy Chicken. Something really good about it is that, they do not fry the first. It's when you order, then they fry it on the spot for you. So when it's served, it's hot and crispy. It's really good, because the layer of the flour is really crunchy and crispy. It had the right ratio of flour and chicken. You know sometimes they have too much flour and too little chicken. This is really good. One more good thing is that it comes in small pieces. So you don't have to tear the chicken with our mouth and get our mouth dirty and oily.

I also ordered their Bento Pork Rice [RM10.90]. It comes with steam rice top over with fried pork, steam vegetables, half of the tea egg, salty vegetables and a piece of potato steamed with a certain sauce. The pork pieces went really well with the steamed rice, and the vegetable was not bitter at all, meaning it's fresh. The salty vegetable was a tit a little too salty. The potato tasted good, but it was a little cold already.

CHOCOLATE FONDUE AT HAAGEN-DAZS Smile Jul 31, 2012

This is the bird eyes view of the Chocolate Fondue. I think it's supposed to be for 4-5 pax. Because the portion they gave was so much. The price for this whole set with tax came up to about RM70++.

The Chocolate Fondue set is divided into three parts. The picture above shows the first part. The first park consist mostly of the dry items. Starting from the far left corner is the yellow sponge cake, a bowl of chopped peanuts (acts as a topping), chocolate chips cookies, and chocolate flavored love letters. The cake was not that good. Everything besides the cake tasted good smile

This is the second section which I will like to call the Ice Cream Wonderland! They provided us with four different flavors of ice cream which are vanilla, strawberry, cookies & cream and lastly, chocolate. Each flavor comes with four mini scoops. Haagan Dazs ice cream is really good. Very smooth and creamy and not overly sweet. But their strawberry flavored ice cream tasted the sweetest among all. Hot chocolate sauce with icey cold ice cream has got to be the best combination in the world!

But one bad thing about their ice cream is that, they melt extremely fast. And we didn't had enough time to enjoy the taste of the ice cream. We were too busy trying to stuff all the ice cream down our throat because it was melting thanks to our Malaysian weather. They should put some dry ice below the ice cream, so they wouldn't melt so fast.

This is the chocolate sauce they provided. It was a bowl split into two sections. And below the bowl they placed a small candle in order to keep the chocolate warm and in a liquid state. The Chocolate Fondue set is divided into three parts. The picture above shows the first part. This is the last and final section of the chocolate fondue which is the fruit section. Their fruit section consisted of chopped bananas, strawberries and green apple. The best choices of fruits that go extremely well with chocolate sauce. Among these 3 fruits, they banana portion was the most. Their fruits were really fresh. This has got to be the healthiest section compared to the other two section.

The one on the top is the Snowflakes's Japan Combo II [RM6.90] that is actually soya bean flavored shaved ice, with green tea flavored taro balls, mini pearls and atzuki red beans. This is not really my favorite because I am not a soya bean fan. If you are, probably this is more suitable for you. The ice has the right amount of sweetness but, I do like the green tea flavored taro balls, as they are very chewy. The one on the far right is Snowflake's Lemon Jade Jelly Ice [RM5.50]. It is actually shaved ice with some sourish lime syrup and jade jelly on the top. This is superb yummy and so suitable for a hot sunny day! The flavors are very simple, a sourish and a little sweet. Sometimes the simplest dish has the best taste smile the one on the bottom is Snowflake's best seller [RM6.90] that comes in both hot and cold. I ordered their cold which tastes nicer compared to the hot version. It is grass jelly flavored shaved ice, topped with slices of grass jelly and sweet potato and yam flavored taro balls and they'll give some sort of creamer that you're supposed to put on top. This still remains as my number 1 favorite thing in snowflake. The ice has the right amount of sweetness and the slices of grass jelly is so smooth and silky and don't get me started on the taro balls. So yummy and chewy.

Chicken Maryland [RM22.90]. Chicken Maryland comes with a big piece of fried chicken, a fried sausage, a fried banana and corn, french fries and steam vegetables on the side. This is also very good. The chicken was fried this crispy and crunchy. Not overly oily. And the fried banana was so sweet and nice smile And the portion is so big! Very worth the price.
