Char hor fun Smile Aug 03, 2012

Categories : Chinese | Stall / Warung | Noodles

I remember this place to be pretty popular as it's not only right beside the beach but there's a big night market along the road. The moment we sat down at a table, we were asked non stop if we wanted alcohol by the women. The plate of char hor fun we ordered tasted pretty good though. It was heavily laden with ingredients and had a very fragrant smokey aroma. Tastes best with a hint of chilli!

Spring Roll Smile Aug 03, 2012

Categories : Chinese | Stall / Warung

Being in a land we are not familiar with, we looked around to see what the others were eating. In the end we ordered two servings of the fried spring roll since we saw almost every table having a plate! They did take a while to arrive but yum! I guess it was worth the wait. The skin is crispy and crunchy but not oily. When you bite inside you can taste the sweetness of the juicy and soft vegetables.

Prawn Noodles OK Aug 03, 2012

This food court is very convenient since it is located right beside the famous Batu Ferringhi beach and has a wide variety of food available. This bowl of prawn noodle was average.. The big spoon of har gou (prawn paste) added taste to the soup but I wouldn't say it is very good. It definitely wasn't bland but not something I would recommend. I found exactly 7 very tiny and overcooked prawns inside the slightly soup.

Ice cream ABC Smile Jul 28, 2012

If you are having asam laksa at the famous Air Itam Laksa in Jalan Pasar, most probably you will see many people ordering this ABC as well. It is a combination of different colourful toppings like beans, cincau, jelly and corn. A scoop of vanilla ice cream crowns the ais kacang. It looks pleasing on the eye with the colours and tastes even better, not too sweet. Nothing like a cold ais kacang to cool down and quench your thirst after a spicy laksa.

Chee Cheong Fun stalls are everywhere but do they all taste the same? This one here contains all the regular ingredients like the rice noodle, dark red sweet sauce, chilli sauce, prawn paste and sprinkled with sesame seeds. The koay teow was soft with a little bounciness and went well with the sweet spicy combination. It was not too oily unlike some that I have tried. However, I didn't particularly like it.
