Good nasi lemak Smile Jan 09, 2013

Categories : Malaysian variety | Stall / Warung | Noodles | Nasi Lemak

This place is located right behind Maybank and is quite popular. Nasi lemak ayam goreng is good and cheap (RM 4.50)! The fragrant rice is topped with an egg (half watery yolk), lots of peanuts, strangely little ikan bilis, cucumber and fried chicken. The chicken is gooodddd.. Meat's still juicy and flavourful. Very generous with the watery sambal, which was not too spicy and tasted slightly sweet.

I recommend you to take away since the place isn't exactly very clean.

Note : Do not order their Maggi goreng as it's terrible

Lotus root Smile Jan 08, 2013   (Related Review)

These are sold at RM 1.10 per piece. The fried dumplings are very flavourful and crunchy. Definitely worth a try (better than the soup ones). Brinjal pieces were not too oily or mushy, to my delight. I loved the fried lotus root here! Lots of fish paste sandwiched between thick pieces of crunchy lotus root. Enjoyed biting into the 2 different textures very much.

Overall, the food here is not bad and service is good too. They didn't even shoo us away when we were the last customers at night and patiently waited for us to leave.

Dislike the soup OK Jan 08, 2013   (Related Review)

A standard order for me for yong tau fu is their smooth tofu in soup (RM 1.10) which can't really differ from other shops. The amount of fish paste they used could have been bigger that that. Wasn't unique or anything. I wasn't very fond of the slightly spicy soup it was in. Tasted like it had other foodstuff (bittergourd) floating in it earlier, giving it a mixed taste.

Chee cheong fun Smile Jan 08, 2013

Despite it's name, this shop is actually located in SS2, PJ. As the shop is open, it can get hot here.

Small plate of chewy rolls of chee cheong fun for RM 2. Simple but delicious. Love how generous they are with the sesame! I chose to top it with some soy sauce to add some taste to the bland middle but the sesame oil by itself was pretty fragrant. They also have rice, kuey teow soup and noodle soup.

Kung pao mantis prawn Smile Jan 08, 2013   (Related Review)

Categories : Chinese | Restaurant | Seafood

Lastly, this is the kung pao mantis prawn meat, which is one of my favourite dishes to order. I've tried this in many other places and was pleasantly surprised to discover that those chunks were mostly meat and had very little flour as opposed to some other places where the entire piece could be flour only. It was delightful to bite into the crunchy goodness and savour the meat inside. It's not very spicy but take care not to bite into the chilli!
