ABC Soup Smile Feb 24, 2013   (Related Review)

Simply love the soup here! You might think ABC soup is really simple but you don't always find good ones outside like this one here. It does not contain Ajinomoto etc but the natural 'sweetness' of the soup is really good. You will find lots of potatoes, tomatoes and chunks of chicken meat (not dry) inside. It is affordable at less than RM 7 and you can order other dishes and rice.

I recently tried the 'ham choi' soup at their Meng Tien outlet and it was strangely so salty. Are the soups prepared separately? sad

Wantan mee Smile Feb 21, 2013

Categories : Chinese | Stall / Warung | Noodles

The so called 'Flying Wantan Mee' is located on the same road as myBurgerLab. Why the name? Well, the chef throws your noodles high up in the air and catches it back without fail.

Tables are located along the dimly lit road and it can get pretty close to the passing cars. Also, the road is on a slope so be careful with your soups!

We came here of course, for the wantan mee which is not incredible but better than average. The mee didn't have that awful taste many have and the char siew wasn't too tough although very fatty. Included two sad leaves. Mee comes with a small bowl of dumplings in soup which were soft and juicy.

After tasting the 'sample' fried dumpling provided, we ordered an extra plate! It's quite tasty & crunchy although slightly too salty.

Lavish meal Smile Feb 17, 2013

Posting another review, but this time with more photos!

This is erm.. fish lip soup (RM 100) =x Sounds gross but actually yummy! It's not too starchy and tastes better than shark's fin soup.

And here's the grand Lobster platter (RM 200)! Comes with fried batter prawns, creamy yam basket with kung pao fried chicken meat, century eggs, squid, super-duper-yummy jellyfish, lobster salad, abalone and more. I don't know how he makes the jellyfish so good! It's crunchy and so well marinated.

Whole duck for RM 60. Love the crispy skin and juicy meat inside. Not too fatty or oily.

Fried lotus root with macadamia nuts, mushrooms, carrots, gingko nuts etc. RM 60 as well which we think is worth it for all the macadamias! Great choice for those of you who don't eat leafy vegetables.

'Lap ngap fan' or translated as wax duck rice =/ (RM 55) I'm not a fan of this rice but my family said it's really good.

Dessert started with honeydew sago tong sui (RM 15). The soup is really murky as he blended the honeydew into it so we could taste the natural sweetness of the fruit. It was full of sago as well!

Looked forward to this the entire night! 'Woh peng' and caramel yam (RM 25). The woh peng is basically pancake with red bean paste inside. Made on the spot so it's still warm. Next to it is sticks of fried yam coated in caramel and sprinkled with sesame seeds. You bite through the crispy sweet caramel and reach the melting yam inside. Yummm~~

Bill was RM 525 for 10 pax which is really cheap considering the kind of food we had! Highly recommend this place.

Celebration:  團年飯

Spending per head: Approximately RM50(晚餐)

Soya Ice Smile Feb 03, 2013   (Related Review)

For once, I decided to steer away from my usual cincau ice and try their soya ice since I am quite fond of soya as well. I got a pleasant surprise as the soya ice is really good! It had such a strong bean taste and the ice melted into a sweet creamy goodness. Reminded me of homemade soya milk and not those mass produced ones. The QQ balls were not too frozen this time so they had a good bounce in them. Glutinous rice balls came in 3 fillings: red bean, peanut butter and sesame I think. Aiyu jelly was a good change as well as I was not really loving their grass jelly.

Preserved Vege Soup Smile Feb 03, 2013

Categories : Chinese | Stall / Warung | Mixed rice

This place has become one of my frequently visited spots for dinner. I was late that day as I arrived at 9 pm (I discovered that many of the soups were sold out by 7.30 pm! shocked). Thankfully, they still had this 'ham choi tong' which is a great appetite opener. I have this with rice alone. Although portion may seem small for a big eater, I feel it's alright since there are vegetables, tofu, tomatoes and really tasty & fragrant meat inside. The warm sour and salty soup tastes great and has enough flavour to be eaten with rice.
