This Braised Pork Belly with Barbecue sauce served with steamed buns, cost RM15.00nett is one of the specialities t China Gate Restaurant.

When the dish arrived on our table, the look was so tempting not for the presentation but the look of the dish. Unfortunately the steamed buns was not served warm and steamed enough as we felt the buns were a bit hard and dry. The taste of the braised pork belly which cut into cube shape was bouncy, may be due to the presence of the fat and lean meat. My assumption, the pork belly might be marinated with Marmite sauce which is sticky in texture, thick black sauce, sweet in taste but I could also taste the presence of the vinegar was quite strong.

Returned to this restaurant again for dinner. The uncle has recommended us to try one of his speciality dishes, Sweet and Sour Pork "咕 嚕 肉" for a small size.

The dish served with big onions and cucumber. The portion is good for 2. The flavoursome sweet and sour sauce made of sugar, tangy ketchup and rice vinegar with stir-fried pork in pieces was crunchy and very well-balance. I could hardly taste any fat in it which was non oiliness that tempted me to have it finished. Burp!tongue

I saw this item listed on in separate sheet located on the table. Spare Pork Ribs in Glutinous rice, cost RM5.80 for one before tax. The size is 4inc length 2inc diameter. More like a Dim Sum item to me.

Viola! I love it for its sticky texture of the glutinous rice and mouthwatering taste. While the Spare Pork Ribs was first marinated before inserted into the glutinous rice, wrapped with banana leaf to steam. The taste of the Spare Pork Ribs was soft in texture, sweet in taste, little bit of salty taste as well. When we opened the leaf, the steaming effect along with the banana leaf aroma came out which made it so appetizing.smile

I really enjoyed every single bite of it!tongue

This is the most affordable drinks we have chosen wisely, Logan with Winter Melon, cost RM10.80 a jar before tax. The portion can be shared with 3 adults. We both had more than 3 glasses each, very filling.

The drinks was not too sweet and just right for our sweetness level. It has many longan and winter melon other than the juice. After drinking it, felt so much of cooling effect in our body system.

Worth the price!tongue

There came the highest cost among all dishes we have ordered, the Steamed Homeland's Chicken with Salt and Chinese Wine along with Wolf berries cost RM19.80 before tax.

I always believe steam chicken will hardly go wrong. For this particular dish, I personally find it was of average standard to me. Firstly, I could not taste the presence of the Chinese Wine, I only could taste the salty gravy. The chicken meat was meaty but averagely soft chewy and smooth in texture. Taste got to be improved!sad
