Healthy food Cry Jul 17, 2012   (Related Review)

According to its homepage, "Zest Cafe offers an ambience that is both soothing and rejuvenating. Check out our kitchen cooked meals, where we bring you a Mediterranean inspired selection entirely made out of fresh, natural ingredients. Or the sumptuous fresh juice and desserts, made and chilled to your liking"

My first visit and my first main course named Braised Seafood, cost RM13.90 before tax. No doubt, Zest is serving healthy food but when the main course served to me, I was kind of taken a back for the portion presented to me.

I was asking myself whether I was having slimming diet instead of healthy food. So small the portion, 3 of us was stunned looking at the dish as mine served first. My colleagues asked me whether I am full with this kind of portion. The description in the menu described a medley of prawn, fish and squid braised with a tomato-based vegetables sauce but as you can see the photo enclosed is showing it is more like a soup instead.

I was not really feel full after having this dish. In terms of the taste, normal, no seafood taste at all as the tomatoes sauce has covered up every thing. Not a good choice.

Standard dropped Cry Jul 16, 2012

According to Rasarasa.net, it has reported that Lee’s agenda are his children’s future and the continuation of the Hokkien mee legacy. Of his four sons, three are helping him out with the business. In November 2009, he opened an outlet at Lot 10’s food court Hutong. YTL Corp’s managing director Tan Sri Dr Francis Yeoh, who spearheaded the project, persuaded Lee to open the place which is now run by his two sons, Shyan Pang and Shyan Bin.

Whenever we were around Lot 10 shopping mall, we will have our lunch at the Hutong foodcourt. Hokkien mee is my BF's favourite. My personal viewpoint on this was, not good at all. Too dark the colour, there were times, it was quite dried, may be overly cooked most of the times, tasted a bit bitter. Certainly the standard dropped as compared with the outlet at Viva Home Mall in Cheras.

According to Rasarasa.net, the Founder of Kim Liang Kee named the late Ong Kim Lian aimed for niche market, he decided to fry mainly his noodles instead. His original recipe of using thick yellow noodles, prawns, pork slices and crispy lard fritters, wok-fried over a charcoal fire has stood the test of time. A distinct part of his method is to allow the rich stock mixed with dark soya sauce to reduce over high heat until it thickens and infuses the noodles and other ingredients. Wow! good to know about the history.

We ordered Penang Fried Kuey Teow, cost RM8.90 for small, Big for RM16.90. Service is fast. Well, my comment to this Fried Kuey Teow is certainly really not their speciality, poorly done, tasteless, further, no wok-fried aroma. Improvement is certainly required.

In terms of ambience, it is certainly good for family and friends get together. One must willing to wait as it would not be short time waiting. Bear in mind that, they do accept advance reservation but if the diners of your group is not 50% arrived, they will give your table to others who already have 100% attendance.

In the pictures, I had ordered again Sesame Chicken Mee Sua set meal, cost RM19.80 before tax as I found it was good previously. Hence, I returned for this item recently, however, it seemed this round, the standard of the taste has dropped. Hardly taste the sesame and it was a bit tasteless.

Please note that if you wish to visit this outlet, do consider of its parking space availability. This newly developed area is rather busy every day and every hour. You may go as far as The Store hypermarket which has ample parking space but need to walk a short distance within 5 minutes.

Ordered a glass of honey lemon ice drink. No doubt it tasted refreshing with lemon but too sweet, too much of honey and lacked of lemon juice. Overall, improvement is required.
