Goku Raku Ramen, a Non Halal restaurant has opened two new branches in Paradigm Mall, Kelana Jaya and Gurney Paragon, Penang. My recent visit, I discovered that they have added quite a number of meal selections as well as lunch sets. To deal with the competitive F & B industry, it is indeed a good move to accommodate more diners from all walks of life.

My friend has ordered a glass of Honey Lemon Tea Iced. Her drinks was on the passing margin, to further improve her drink, put more lemon juice and ice as she found it was not chilled enough.

Improvement please.

Returned to this restaurant for lunch after a few months ago. The restaurant has changed a lot, now they have bigger dining area and smaller kitchen. The kitchen used to be very happening and quite a number of kitchen staff but today, we only saw 2 kitchen staff on duty. While the floor staff used to be in smart dressing and behaved knowledgeable but now, there are only new faces. In terms of business, the restaurant was 50% full during lunch hours.

I had a glass of Honey Lemon Iced which was included in my set lunch. A heavy and strong honey taste but lacked of lemon juice that made the drinks unbalanced as well as a bit too sweet. Improvement is required.

According to its hompage, "The Han Room at The Gardens Mall, opened in January 2011, showcases the finest and latest dishes inspired by Chinese Cuisine History with influences of current Global trends and flavours."

My first visit with a group of friends during Chinese New Year. I have read about the review of the restaurant which turned out not to my expectation.

One of the dishes that I took was the "Lap Mei Farn" (Waxed Meat Rice). The rice was served in a claypot and the ingredients were put separately in a plate. My first time seeing this wonderful and supposedly a delicious with good aroma dish served that way, my rating to this dish on the cooking and presentation has gone down. On the plate there were the waxed Chinese sausages (lap cheong), waxed duck, waxed liver sausages and vegetables. The taste was definitely affected by the way it was presented, in short, taste was not there as the rice and the ingredients were all not placed in the claypot. True enough, none of us enjoyed the dish. My first visit really turned me off to return to this restaurant. Further, the ambience is not what it was stated by the reviewers.

In terms of location, it has very limited parking lots as the area is busy all the time. If for its ambience, food, price and service, it does not justify my second visit. The restaurant looks so much like family-run, having the interior like a home cooking stall instead.

We had the BBQ set for 2 which we found the taste is of average while towards the end of our meal, we were served with their complimentary steamed egg. For the portion to be shared among 2 of us, it was big as we were quite full and did not expect the complimentary dish. In terms of the taste, it was tasteless and nothing much to share any further with this plain steamed egg.

Went to this newly opened Shange Dim Sum and purchased coupons during offer on Groupon. Went twice, once with family and once with my BF. Both visits disappointed us. Despite I have ordered different items in the menu. None we gave good comment on the food.

One of the items we ordered was "Taiping's Chee Cheong Fun" served with sweet sauce. Taiping's Chee Cheong Fun is stuffed with vegetables or known as sengkuang in Bahasa Malaysia. Portion was small. Tasteless and not worth the money. Immediate improvement is certainly required.
