After a good meal and great talk. It was towards almost end of our meal, hence, we decided to order desserts to complete our dinner.

We ordered Banana Foster Bread Pudding, cost RM10.90 before tax for sharing. It has banana mixed with pecans bread as base and topped with Strawberry, whipped cream and ice-cream. Beautiful presentation indeed. Find it very creative as well. For those who are banana lovers would probably like this item but not for me because I found it very sweet. Ice cream and whipped cream are both sweet with the banana base made it sweeter. Not my cup of tea!smile

Disappointing dessert Cry Jul 30, 2012   (Related Review)

I really hope Poon Kee would seriously look into improving the desserts at once in particular their very authentic desserts as well. The quality and standard are not up to the expectation.

We had Sweet balls (3 pieces) with black glutinous rice, cost RM5.60 before tax. The sweet balls were filled with peanut paste which tasted like peanut butter jam, very sweet. The texture of the glutinous balls and size are acceptable. The Black glutinous rice served with coconut milk are also acceptable only but not to the extend of good taste.

Dessert that not recommended Cry Jul 30, 2012

Poon Kee started its business as a roadside stall selling local desserts. Now, they have expanded their business and opened its branches in the Klang Valley. Poon Kee is now providing more variety of desserts and into food as well. My very first visit at its stall was a few years back at Taman Yew Lek, Cheras.

My last visit with friends on their desserts we ordered was disappointed. However, I did another attempt recently, visited Poon Kee again with my BF, a second chance, we both tried other items in the menu for a tea break. Surely not the fancy dessert but on their authentic desserts.

One of which was the Ginger Soup Soya Bean Curd, "Tau Foo Fa", cost RM3.50 before tax. Oh dear! the Tau Foo Fa was done so badly. Where is the quality of a simple Tau Foo Fa, firstly, texture was smooth but no soya beans taste at all. Ginger soup that tasted very little. I finished the whole bowl but without any feeling and filling in my stomach.

Came here for friends' birthday celebration dinner. My friend who was the organiser and has recommended us to try out its food.

Firstly, we ordered a few starters, one of which was Southern Crab Cakes, cost RM9.50 before tax. On the menu, it described it is a Southern Delight, crisp golden fried crab patties, drizzled with Remoulade dressing.

Presentation of the dish was good. Be alert that the sideline of the dish which was the chopped tomatoes was super spicy hot. In terms of the Crab Cakes, I only could taste the salty minced meat, the salty taste that covered the taste of the crab meat completely Will not recommend this dish to friends. sad

huffy So sad that my favourite dessert, Red Ruby Water Chestnut, cost RM5.90 before tax, really let me down.

I have never tried such a lousy Red Ruby Water Chestnut. Firstly, no taste at all, the colours are there but not the content and the taste. The Red Ruby which supposed to be water chestnut wrapped with the starch was not completely cooked and all stick together in one as shown in the picture. For the first time in my life, I did not finish my favourite bowl of Red Ruby Water Chestnut as it was tasteless.sad

I really hope they take immediate improvement on this.
