Rack of Lamb

Rack of Lamb

Although a lot of the items we ordered all turned out pretty good, I find the Rack of Lamb just average. Perhaps their forte is in steaks and fishes because the rack of lamb was a little too dry. It has that nice smoky taste but the meat is flaky and a little tough to chew. Still the sauce is really outstanding, with mint taste to dispel any strong flavours from the lamb that not many can take. Hopefully they will improve on their lamb dish because this bistro really did very well in other dishes. The ambience of the bistro is really nice and has dimmed lighting for cosy conversations with friends and families. Highly recommended.

I really can't compliment enough about the Rib Eye Steak at Memphis Bistro. It came served with Blue Cheese sauce which has such a sharp deep strong flavour and matches well with the beef cut. And with the steak cooked medium done, it was the perfect finish for me since the steak tasted really tender and has that natural sweet juicy taste. It was really one of the better options to order.

The bistro is decorated with memorabilia of Elvis Presley and sports events. It gave me a homey feel and a place that you can spend time relaxing and enjoying your food. Worth every dollar paid.

Memphis Bistro is a place where the steak is very well cooked. When you ask for medium cooked steak, you get exactly that. I love the Sirloin with Goose Liver which tasted really moist with the juices rushing out with every bite. I could taste the fresh texture of the meat and really liked the goose liver paired with it. The liver gave it a cheesy texture and really creamy too. And their side dishes of sauteed mushrooms and vegetables are equally well done with a soft texture. Taste wise, it did not need much help from sauces because the natural juices were the only thing that it needs.

Pan Fried Toothfish Smile Aug 17, 2012   (Related Review)

Toothfish

Toothfish

This little bistro is a rare find. The food menu is a well researched one that has enough variations to cater to different tastebuds. I tried their Pan Fried Toothfish, a type of patagonian yellowtail fish. It was a lucky pick as I enjoyed every bite of it. The flesh was super soft and felt like chewing into butter. The texture is similar to that of codfish and simply dressed with sauteed mushrooms and soft boiled potatoes and vegetables. The juices from the frying is retained for a simple garnish which tasted super sweet. Although it didn't come cheap at RM46, I would gladly come again to try it.

Abalone with Goose Web Smile Aug 17, 2012

For one of my family dinners, we went to Ah Yat to try their signature abalone dishes. The restaurant is tastefully done with nice ambience. The highlight of the evening came with abalone and stewed goose web (similar to chicken feet but belonging to webbed feet from geese or duck). The abalone and goose web both were drenched in abalone sauce which was very rich and slightly thick, just the right consistency so that the sauce clings to the ingredients nicely. The abalone is super tender which made it really great to savour. The abalone ia the size of a golf ball so it wasn't too big but really made up for it in taste.

The goose web served had been stewed thoroughly and the flesh is easily breakable. Everyone on the table enjoyed the dish which is simple but unforgettable.
