Nasi Lemak Smile Aug 06, 2012   (Related Review)

One of the bestseller at this kopitiam is their Nasi Lemak. I tried their Chicken Rendang Nasi Lemak and find it quite good. The rendang was not too spicy and the texture of the curry was just the right texture without being too thick. The chicken meat was tenderized and made it really easy to cut. The condiments were peanuts, ikan bilis, hard boiled egg and cucumber and these were fresh which complements the fragrant coconut milk flavoured rice. I would say that the flavours were not too strong and will cater to most tastebuds.

Honey chicken wings Smile Jul 31, 2012

Being in a buffet steamboat restaurant, you would think that the main focus will be on the steamboat soup base or the ingredients. Granted, these are good here but their Honey Chicken Wings creates quite a stir everytime it is brought out.

These are not ready made and are brought out in intervals so that it is fresh. The stir is when customers makes a grab for the limited chickens. It looked like a scene from a movie with people dashing and grabbing as fast as they can. The chicken is so good that each batch is snapped up in minutes. I kid you not.

The taste is really yummy, with each wing coated with their special sauce before being barbequed. The skin is so finger licking good that you do not mind all the pulling for each batch. And the flesh is juicy and still tender which is a feat they have perfected.

Highly recommended item to try.

If not for a voucher deal for a buffet meal for only RM35, I would not have found this quaint little restaurant located in Damansara Perdana.

The ambience at this restaurant was actually quite good, the lights are muted and one wall was filled with renaissance period painting from floor to ceiling giving it a very classy feel. There is a wide selection of wine available with wine bottles displayed on racks forming one wall separator.

The Spanish-Mediterranean buffet selection were huge with soups, salads, entrees, pasta, risotto, paella, seafood, poultry, beef, lamb, pork dishes like knuckles and sausages, pizza and dessert.

Based on the varieties of food, I would like to highlight their Seafood Paella with generous amounts of squid, fish slices, mussels, shrimp and clams. The rice tasted of the combined fusion of all the wonderful flavours from the seafood and it was totally awesome. There was such intense mix of flavors from the wine and saffron to paprika that it will not disappoint diners. The success of a paella dish is also on the texture of the rice. Too much broth and it will be soggy and too little it will be dry. Here, they have managed to find a balance and the result was a paella with just the right moisture retained so that it tasted soft but still able to keep its form. Wonderful choice.

The creativity and range of dessert chains in Malaysia has a long way to go if compared to those in Hong Kong, Taiwan and Japan. But the big chains from those countries have in the past few years made a mark and slowly changing this trend. The latest to join these is Hui Lau Shan, a popular dessert chain from Hong Kong renowned for its wide range of delicious desserts.

One of the dessert I have tried at the outlet in Pavillion is the Supreme Coconut Stewed Bird's Nest with Harsmar. Bird's nest is very good for the complexion and general health and adding harsmar with coconut further adds to the health benefits.

The dessert quality is thankfully quite similar to the Hong Kong chain's and I really enjoyed the sweet and creamy taste of the coconut milk. The coconut flesh and harsmar pieces were crunchy in texture. The dessert is further enhanced since it is served chilled. I think the bird's nest included are only minimal at best but it was still very nourishing - recommended especially for ladies.

Durian Tiramisu Smile Jul 30, 2012   (Related Review)

Durian Tiramisu

Durian Tiramisu

We were told that the seasonal Durian Tiramisu is available and so we ordered one to taste.

The tiramisu was quite good. As usual the portion is not too big and the tiramisu was so full of durian taste and the sweetness was just nice, I kid you not. It was really creamy and there was a dusting of chocolate powder on the top as in all tiramisu cakes. This time I feel the portion is a bit small and wanted to have more of it, that was how good it was.
