Leite Mousse Cake Cry Aug 13, 2012   (Related Review)

It said on the sign that this cake is actually milk almond and vanilla mix. I did not really taste much of those flavours in the cake, it was just a hint of vanilla which was overpowered by the super sweet taste. It was a little too much for me, there wasn't much else I remembered of this cake except for how overly sweet it was. There was attempt to decorate the cake with chocolate topping but that too did not make any impact as I did not get any chocolate taste too. Not recommended.

Danish Crepe Pastry Cry Aug 13, 2012

Been seeing the sign Free Mori and did not know it was a bakery until my friend told me about it. So we decided to pay a visit when they opened a new branch at Taman Danau Desa. One of the items we tried is the Danish Crepe. This is a multi-layered danish pastry much like a crepe cake but without the creaminess. It was like biting into soft bread and the top was not crispy just a thin layer of pastry. There wasn't much in taste too just a little bit of sweetness and little else. Not recommended.

Hokkien Meehoon Cry Aug 12, 2012

I find the hokkien meehoon here just normal. Hokkien fried dishes are normally stir fried until sauces are thick. The meehoon was practically swimming in sauce. The sauce tasted quite salty and the meehoon was soggy. Chicken slices were adequately marinated but due to the salty sauce, the meat were also affected and lost most of its good taste. There were a sprinkle of lettuce fried together which did nothing to save this dish.

I didn't find the cup of latte here deserving any special mention. It was served with a nice coffee art of swirling milk but other than that, the coffee was just normal. Maybe their blend of coffee is too mild for me, tasting a bit too milky instead. Since latte is espresso mixed with steamed froth milk, I guess they must have the wrong ratio for the espresso as it was not as strong as it should be. The coffee was also got cold quite fast indicating that the heat was not the right temperature.

Special Seafood Maggi Mee Goreng Cry Aug 12, 2012

Maggi Mee

Maggi Mee

This cafe is one of the newer restaurants springing up in Bangsar Village. The decor reminds me of a mamak restaurant with its long tables but with a quirky 'tikam' wall, it really brings you back to days of kopi tiam.

The menu is a mix of western and local fusion food. I tried their Special Seafood Maggi Mee Goreng and was intrigued by the presentation. The mee was topped by a tower of first a fried egg. Then a chunk of salmon and followed by a piece of prawn and crowed with a piece of squid. There were other pieces of squid in the dish.

The taste was something of a disappointment. The maggi mee was too wet probably absorbing too much sauce which was a tad too spicy for me - it was lots of chilli padi which some may like. The seafood were all quite fresh thankfully and taste alright but overall the dish was a bit oily and felt really heavy. The salmon was a bit tough and overgrilled. Hopefully they have better options on their menu.
