Father’s day dining Smile Jun 17, 2019

We visited on Father’s Day and it was packed. Filled with People Of different races here to enjoy madam Kwan’s passionately made food. Ever since madam kwan’s closed down in Singapore’s vivo it. KL is the only place I can get my Nasi Bojari fix! It comes with a huge piece of chicken that is crispy on the outside and juicy and succulent on the inside, along with beef rendang, sweet prawns and bojari rice

The char kway teow also has a nice wok hei and loads of prawns and sotong! I’m always satisfied with any meal at madam Kwan!

Cooling Hong Kong Desserts! Smile Jun 03, 2015
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Chinese | Stall / Warung | Desserts

My friends couldn't stop raving about this dessert shop that they had tried in Hong Kong and since we were now in KL. They were pretty much "die, die must try!"

1. Chewy balls with mango dessert 15rm

So the chewy balls were more like mochi! There simply wasn't enough of them chewy balls! It was definitely chewy and slightly soft and pillowy on the inside! The mango cubes were all sweet. The ice cream was abit frozen and it took awhile, before we could spoon the ice cream with our metal spoons. The shaved mango ice at the bottom, wasn't too sweet and it was almost like a mango slurpee. It was very refreshing and cooling!

2. Coconut ribbon with mango dessert 15rm

The coconut ribbon tasted just like fresh coconut flesh from a fresh coconut! It was sweet, but not artificially sweet. The ribbons were long, and we had difficulty eating them in a decent manner. We ended up slicing them with the metal spoons, to prevent a huge mess!

Between the coconut ribbon and the chewy balls, it would be difficult to decide which was my favourite. I would definitely order both of them again!! But at 15rm a dessert, it is quite pricey!!

Great American comfort food! Smile Jun 03, 2015

Categories : Western variety | Restaurant | Burgers / Sandwiches

My group of friends and I chanced upon Johnny Rockets and I haven't had it since I left the US, so I decided to give it a try.

1. Chicken Melt Sandwich 15ringgit

Okay, I was a bit surprised to learn that it wasn't a sandwich flooded with cheese and pressed on a sandwich press. In fact, it took me awhile to find the small slice of swiss cheese in my sandwich. On the bright side, there was one large onion ring, a load of barbecue sauce sauce and a tender piece of chicken. The whole sandwich itself was too much for me to eat. So I ate half and my friend took care of the other half. These are the typical large portions you would find at any American dinner!

2. Oreo Milkshake 13.90ringgit

It was more of a ice cream waiting to be melted into a milkshake, the second metal cup was about 1/4 full with the remaining portion of the milkshake. It wasn't the best milkshake I had, but it was okay. I would still think steak and shake 2-3USD milkshakes would beat this hands down!

This was my friend's burger, who told me it was very very good!

The dining area, there was ample space for big groups of customers

Here is the menu.

The staff were very friendly and polite, happily greeting everyone that walked past the shop, customer or not.

Located just across the Petronas Towers is this mamak that is opened 24 hours. We visited on a Sunday at 1030am and there were a lot of customers, including a street bike gang!
Parkin is readily available along the streets, adjacent to the mamak.

I got a mango lassi 6RM to cool myself down on a super hot day! It was slightly sour but I was okay with that! I would rather have a slightly sour one than one that was overdosed with sugar syrup! At least I know that this was authentic mango!

The Prata here is awesome! Super cridpy and the kaya was thinly spread in the roti prata. It was quite sweet and my sensitive teeth wasn't too happy with it! The dhal curry wasn't that fantastic.

Kway Teow goreng is damn Shiok! A lot of wok Hei! This was supposedly the drier version, which they will ask you which kind you want. Even though this is the drier version, it was still drenched in oil. I did enjoy this calorie laden dish! Definitely getting this again the next time I visit KL!

The nasi Ayam goreng was also great, the rice was slightly charred too! For 22.80RM for 2 pax, it was reasonably priced to me! smile and you can also enjoy a great view of the KL iconic landmark at the same time!

Great brunch place! Smile Mar 28, 2015

Facing the main road, near Neo damanura is the metal box!

The interior is quite spacious, and it wasn't crowded on a Saturday at 1130am. There are glass bottles of water on the table for yourself to help yourself to the water.

Here is their menu. They have a decent variety of food to choose from.

There are also c ales at the cashier, all looked so good! And they were said to be made from scratch, in house!

I got the speciality French toast and for 15.90rm I felt that it was reasonably priced. It was very filling as it was made of nest in. I could only eat two slices. The gula Melaka was an interesting addition To the French toast.

Usually most hipster cafes will serve this with honey but not the metal box!

Here is our breakfast spread.

The flat white was decent but nothing to rave about. They also have free wifi.. The password is the metalrocket.

And this was the bill for the brunch smile
