Pastries at Free Mori Smile Jul 31, 2012

Free Mori is a bakery cum cafe which sells lots of beaitiful cakes, pastries and breads. Free Mori has recently opened its' 6th outlet in Taman Danau Desa. They also have branches located in SS2, Damansara Uptown, Publika Solaris Dutamas and Taipan USJ. I got the following two beautiful desserts as my tea time snacks from there.

Danish Puding (RM 4.00)
From the picture, the dessert looks very appetizing. The top middle of this flaky pastry is consisted of a big caramel puding. The puding itselt is nice to eat. Not too sweet and also not too creamy. The pastry's surface is coated with glazed sugar, giving it a slight sweet taste.

The back view of the Danish Puding

Mixture of butter, raisins and red beans can be found inside the pastry. These 3 combinations with the puding gives a unique texture to the pastry. Yummy yummy........

Triplets (RM 3.90)

Triplets is actually a chocolate cream puff divided into the segments, and thus the name Triplets. The top of the cream puff is coated with chocolate. The peanut bites on top of the puff gives a crunchy texture to the puff.

Strawberry slices are sandwiched in between the puff.

Look at the chocolate cream oozing out from the puff.

The sweetness from the chocolate cream manage to cover the slight sour taste of the strawberry. Overall, I quite like this dessert as the sweet taste is not too strong.

Bourbon dishes Smile Jul 31, 2012   (Related Review)

Run Forest Run, sounds familiar? Yes, Bubba Gump is a restaurant inspired by the movie Forest Gump which has that famous line in it. Both Gene and I ordered two different types of Bourbon sauce dishes. I had the Bourbon Street Barramundi which was highly recommended by the waitress, while Gene had the Bourbon Street Chicken.

Bourbon Street Baramundi (RM 29.90)

Bourbon Street Baramundi is actually a dish consisted of two big piece of charbroiled Cajun-spiced fish with Bourbon Street Sauce served over mash potatoes. Luckily, the grilled fish doens't have fishy taste. Besides, there were also lots of fresh peeled prawns and crispy tortilla chip strips being given. The mashed potato taste good when eaten with the sauce because it absorbed the rich and creamy Bourbon street sauce. A very satisfying and comforting dish. For those who are watching his/her weight, skip this dish as it is quite fattening...hehe.......

Bourbon Street Chicken

The ingredients found in Bourbon Street Chicken is exactly the same with Boubon Street Baramundi, except for the fish being substituted with grilled chicken. The chicken is tender with a slightly grilled aroma.

Marinated Chicken Feet Smile Jul 30, 2012   (Related Review)

Besides selling Bak Kut Teh, Big Mouth also sells other dishes such as steamed fish head, pork knuckle in vinegar, claypot chicken and steamed eggs. I found one interesting dish in the menu which is the marinated chicken feet. Thus, mum and I ordered a serving of the chicken feet (served in a claypot to make sure the food is kept warm longer) and was charged RM 8.

There were a total of 7 pieces of chicken feet being given. I managed to satisfy my craving for chicken feet because out of the seven, I had four pieces....hehe.....The chicken feet were marinated and cooked nicely as the chicken feet's flesh came off easily from the bone and was soft to eat. Just the way I liked chicken feet. I think the chicken feet must have being cooked for quite sometime in the gravy as the gelatinous part has seeped into the gravy, making it thick and gooey. Although the gravy and chicken feet were on the salty side, I still liked them when eaten together with plain rice. Besides, celery were added on top of the chicken feet to make the dish more fragrant....thumbs up.....

Claypot Bak Kut Teh Smile Jul 30, 2012

Categories : Chinese | Restaurant | Seafood | Bak Kut Teh

Big Mouth Bak Kut Teh at Jalan Klang Lama, next to the post office is actually a branch of the original/main branch located at Jalan Tun HS Lee in Chinatown. The main branch has been operating since 1988. While the Jalan Klang Lama Branch has just begun operating this year. Few days ago, mum and I tried their Bak Kut Teh at their Jalan Klang Lama branch.

We ordered a serving of claypot bak kut teh with a price of RM 11. Instead of claypot, one can also opt for bowl bak kut teh with a price of RM 9 per bowl.

I think at just RM 11, the price is quite affordable because there were lots of ingredients being given. The ingredients found in this claypot include button mushrooms, golden-needle mushrooms, Chinese white cabbage and dried beancurd sheets. As for the pig parts, the ingredients are pork ribs, slices of pig's stomach and fatty pork belly. The soup was tasty but without much herbal taste. I prefer soup with stronger herbal taste. Nevertheless, the soup is still good to eat with rice.

Soft ribs.....the meat came off easily from the soft bone of the ribs....very tender, no need to use force to get the meat out off the bone.......

The very fatty part of the pig near the pig's leg...Though fattening, I can't resist from eating this tender part of the pig. The fat layer melts in my mouth....yummy yummy.........

I had a slice of Triple Decker Cheese Cake from Coffee Bean yesterday. One slice of it cost me RM 10.05 (included 6 % government tax). For those who are interested in getting the whole cake, one cake is RM 85.

The cake is super sinful as it is topped with crushed Oreo cookies and consisted of three layers of different cheese type, made up of cream cheese, mocha and oreo cheese. I get to taste 3 different flavors in one bite. The oreo taste in the oreo layer doesn't have storng oreo taste, just a hint of it. My favourite is the cream cheese layer as the cheese flavor is strong and rich. Not only the cheese layers are good but the crumb layer supporting the cake is also good with buttery taste. It is dense and moist. I think cheese cakes lovers out there will fall in love with this cake....yummy yummy......

The cake looks so tempting and appetizing........

Besides the cheesecake, I also had the above Esprit Raspberry sparkling water from Coffee Bean at RM 7.50. I quite like this carbonated refreshing drink because it is not really sweet and filled with raspberry and apple flavor. It tastes better when served cold. The drink is consisted of contains 5 % fruit juice from concentrates of raspberry (4 %) and apple juice (1 %). Other ingredients in this drink included carbonated water, sugar, citric acid, natural flavors, natural color and preservatives. This bottle of drink is actually made in Australia by Bickford's Australia PTY LTD.
