Cedar-seared Salmon Pasta Cry Jun 07, 2012

TGIF = Thank God It's Friday lol

Yap that's right! It was a coincidence that when my friends and I dined in at TGI Friday's, it was a Friday tongue

We didn't have to wait for long to be ushered to our seats but we were given a table which has no air cond at all. Apparently the air cond for the entire section was not working shocked Requested for a table change and we got it! This time, with air cond blowing from top!

Ordered this cedar-seared salmon pasta and I regretted immediately. When it was served, I could smell a very strong scent of salmon, which somehow didn't smell delicious/fresh at all but the other way round.

Don't get me wrong, the pasta tasted really delicious after taking a few pieces of salmon (my friends had some too), we all agreed that the salmon wasn't fresh.

We didn't stay long after our meals because the environment was rather noisy for us to talk without shouting to each other :|

Red Velvet Cake Cry Jun 07, 2012
Categories : Western variety | Café | Burgers / Sandwiches | Halal

So my first visit to CBTL was to purchase a piece of cake. The Red Velvet.

Honestly, I wouldn't pick this cake due to its colouring but since my friends were telling me how awesome this cake is, I just had to get it.

Okay, it didn't look that bad. But the coconut shavings on top were a big no no to me. Took a bite and I was quite sure that I wasn't not going to finish this cake anymore. It was quite tasteless to me, and with the coconut shavings on top, I was disappointed sad

I don't mind going back to CBTL for its drinks but not cakes anymore. The outlet at OU is cozy and comfortable afterall.

Spending per head: Approximately RM10

Chicken Mushroom Noodle OK Jul 22, 2012
Categories : Chinese | Kopitiam

When I saw this dish on the menu displayed on the stall, I was attracted by its name in Mandarin. It's called 北菇滑鸡面.

I waited for quite some time for this noodle and I thought it shouldn't take that long to prepare such a simple order considering that all ingredients have been cooked beforehand.

The noodles were somewhat similar to wantan noodles; springy and thin. However, it's too oily due to the sauce that the noodles were immersed in. I got mushrooms, chinese dried sausages and a few pieces of chicken. These chicken pieces were steamed for a long time and they appeared to be very tender and easy to be chewed on. Overall, this dish was just ok but it wouldn't be on my list in future.

Gong Pou Chicken OK Jul 22, 2012

Categories : Western variety | Restaurant | Noodles

I've heard that this restaurant has the similar management as Canton-i but I'm not sure if it's true or not. Someone enlighten me please?

Anyways, this restaurant has a unique ordering system. Instead of entering the restaurant and to be given menu by the waiters/waitresses, one needs to order at the counter first and then proceed with payment before entering the seating area. But where's the menu? It's at the main entrance as well, on the wall to be exact. I thought they have very little choices compared to other restaurants like Dragon-i, Xian Ding Wei etc despite its spacious seating area.

I chose the set meal of Gong Pou Chicken Rice. Priced at RM16, I got a bowl of soup of the day, a bowl of white rice and the main dish.

I thought that the chicken was cut into pieces that were a bit too small. Yes the main dish looked quite big plate but I reckon it's the small pieces of chickens which gave the wrong illusion to customers. Taste wise, it was still acceptable with the addition of green peppers, onions and cashew nuts.

As for the soup, this one was very delicious and it definitely had been boiled for many hours because the soup tasted rich in the ingredients used like carrots, yellow cucumbers and pork.

Dinner buffet OK Jul 19, 2012

Categories : Japanese | Restaurant | Buffet

I'm not really a buffet person, simply because I will become full easily especially when it comes to a mixture of different cuisines. Lucky for me, I had the opportunity to dine in at Shogun one night with my colleagues.

So as you can see, this outlet here is spacious and it has several areas separated for different food.

All in all, I would say I went home as a satisfied customer. I was one of the first few customers who arrived right after dinner buffet has started so the food was fresh and served warm and cold respectively. Salmon sashimi was thick and fresh. As for the waffles, they were made on the spot but since I took the one that was already on the plate, it turned cold by the time I ate it. Perhaps the chef should make it when there are customers requesting for waffles.

I rewarded myself with these. Fruits and biscuit sticks coated with chocolate. It's a self-service counter whereby you take the fruits you want and coat them with chocolate. However, the chocolate hardened fast and it's not advisable to put them like how I arranged them to be on the plate because they got stuck together and it wasn't easy to separate them since the stick is soft and can be broken easily.
