There is one dish that you have to order when you're here at Kissaten, be it day or night, that is the legendary Char siew pizza!

Japanese char siew isn't like the ones we have at stalls. The char siew slices were chopped up and scattered evenly on the pizza, along with some sweet sauce, spring onion, cheese and mayonnaise. I would say each of the ingredients used made this pizza so delicious. The pizza had a thin crust and crunchy edges.

Gyoza. This should be eaten while it's hot otherwise its texture will most likely to be different. A bit too oily for me but that's ok. Juicy fillings which I thought the taste could be enhanced more. Nevertheless one can always eat this with the special sauce served.

I'm not really a fan of salmon but this particular dish has been reviewed by many others and they found it to be delicious.

For those who didn't know, this set included salmon + coleslaw + miso soup + chawanmushi and a bowl of rice.

Frankly speaking the salmon was as good as complimented by people who have eaten this, but this particular piece of salmon I had contained lots of tiny bones which annoyed me after a few bites because I had to keep spitting them out. The bones were quite soft but I wouldn't wanna gobble everything down just like that so I took my own sweet time in finishing the salmon itself.

Complimentary miso soup. Tasted just like any other miso soups out there but this one had more vegetables/tofu in it.

Believe it or not this chawanmushi was my favourite part of the set meal. Found shiitake mushrooms and kamaboko inside lol Neither too salty nor bland smile

Pork pork pork! Smile Jun 27, 2012

What's best to be eaten on a rainy day? A bowl of soup and your comfort food!

Chicken Noodle Soup which was the soup of the week. Delicious and filling as the amount of vegetables were quite a lot and they were chunky. By the way, the noodle here referred to macaronis. In my opinion, I thought this soup was quite similar to the chicken and ham soup in terms of taste.

Pulled pork burger. Meat was very tender because it's cooked using low heat and long cook method, thus the connective tissues were weakened and they can be "pulled" easily. Braised in special sauce and served with house coleslaw and fries. This pulled pork tucked in between the burger resembled very much like those fillings in Chinese pau(s).

Must have yo~

Winter in MY Smile Jun 27, 2012

The main attraction of this cafe is their tea beverages; ranging from Iced Fruit Tea, Hot Milk Tea, and Herbal Tea and they are served in pots and jug. We ordered 2 types of teas from the Iced Fruit Tea series: Iced Mixed Fruit Cocktail and Iced Peach Tea. Both were served chilled, with quite a lot of ice cubes actually, in which I personally thought the amount of ice can be reduced so at least the tea won't be diluted too much after some time. The former came with slices of different fruits while the latter was infused with peach jelly.

Both of them tasted great to me. I could tasted pineapple the most in the Iced Mixed Fruit Cocktail while the flavours of other fruits didn't stand out. Also, despite the simple outlook (as in, decorated with one slice of lemon only) of Iced Peach Tea, all of us agreed that it tasted much better than the Iced Mixed Fruit Cocktail. Priced at RM9.90 each.

Mango Chicken Rice at RM12.90. Took a bite of the chicken and as the name implies, the chicken was served with some mango sauce, with a slight taste of spiciness in it.

Deep Fried Garlic Chicken served with potatoes and rotini. The chicken was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, and marinated perfectly. As for the sauce, it had a similar taste with Thai chili sauce. RM11.90 for this satisfying dish.

Tea time! Smile Jun 27, 2012

What to do when you're hungry in the afternoon but you've already had lunch and it's not dinner time yet? You hunt for snacks!

This set is priced at RM4; a bowl of hot soya bean drink and you char kuey. You char kuey is not too oily and yet it's crispy at the same time, fried perfectly! As for the soya drink, it's served to the customers without any sugar in it so I added in the white sugar syrup according to my liking. Smooth and thick soya drink + you char kuey, an angry man (lady) becomes a happy man (lady)! tongue
