Char siew + Siu Yuk + Duck Smile Jul 20, 2012
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Chinese | Restaurant

Apparently this restaurant is famous for their duck. Dropped by to dine in here after attending a friend's convocation nearby.

Indeed, the restaurant was full of people waiting to be served as well as for take away. Good food requires patience to wait lol

We managed to secure seats after awhile and we went ahead and ordered our food. Half Roast Duck, RM15 worth of Siew Yuk and Char Siew respectively.

The duck was crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside. Duck meat is not my favourite but this one was cooked to my liking, especially when you eat it with the special duck sauce, it was absolutely perfect!

Nothing to brag about on this Siew Yuk, the top parts weren't crunchy enough.

The sweetness of the Char Siew was just right and the sauce was more watery instead of the sticky type like the one I prefer.

All in all, everything was good except for the Siew Yuk which didn't meet my expectation especially for the price I paid for.

Beef, chicken or vege? Smile Jul 19, 2012

Categories : Western variety | Café | Burgers / Sandwiches

I knew I had to pay a visit to this place when I saw the pictures of burgers served here posted on Facebook. Charcoal buns! How special is that? lol

Basically, this place serves more beef burgers than chicken and vege and the beef used is 100% Australian grass-fed. Also, chicken burgers usually sold out faster than among all so it's best to be there early if you want chicken!

This is the hangover burger set. Crispy hash brown + beef + maple syrup + mushrooms = my yummylicious dinner! Who knew that such combinations produce a rather weird yet delicious burger right? The beef patty is not completely well done to bring out its natural flavours to the customers; if you're one who don't like eating slightly raw beef, then you should request for the beef to be well done when placing orders. Fries were served piping hot and crispy as well smile

This is the Beautiful Mess version 3.0. You get fried portabella mushroom, sunny side up in green pepper, mozarella cheese, cherry tomatoes, lettuce and beef in charcoal bun. I can't find the perfect word to describe this burger because it's just so good that I kept wanting more! Runny egg yolk which made the beef patty more juicy and flavourful than it already is, or the crunchiness of green pepper and fried mushroom, whichever it its, I guarantee you that you won'r regret ordering this!

Dinner buffet OK Jul 19, 2012

Categories : Japanese | Restaurant | Buffet

I'm not really a buffet person, simply because I will become full easily especially when it comes to a mixture of different cuisines. Lucky for me, I had the opportunity to dine in at Shogun one night with my colleagues.

So as you can see, this outlet here is spacious and it has several areas separated for different food.

All in all, I would say I went home as a satisfied customer. I was one of the first few customers who arrived right after dinner buffet has started so the food was fresh and served warm and cold respectively. Salmon sashimi was thick and fresh. As for the waffles, they were made on the spot but since I took the one that was already on the plate, it turned cold by the time I ate it. Perhaps the chef should make it when there are customers requesting for waffles.

I rewarded myself with these. Fruits and biscuit sticks coated with chocolate. It's a self-service counter whereby you take the fruits you want and coat them with chocolate. However, the chocolate hardened fast and it's not advisable to put them like how I arranged them to be on the plate because they got stuck together and it wasn't easy to separate them since the stick is soft and can be broken easily.

Pork balls (& soup) Smile Jul 19, 2012

Categories : Thai | Restaurant | Steaks / Chops | Seafood | Noodles

I've been craving for the mango sticky rice ever since my last visit, so I decided to visit this restaurant again with the bf for dinner.

They have introduced several new dishes, namely pandan chicken, assam fish, red curry chicken wings, jungle minced pork wrap and many others. Among them, this particular dish called pork balls caught my attention.

About 10 pork balls were served and they were topped with fried garlic, pork lards and olive oil. Smelled very good and of course tasted delicious as well. The meat was juicy and tender but somehow lacked the "bouncy" texture. See that chili sauce that was served along with the pork balls? Best to dip the balls into the sauce before eating because it did affect the taste lol

This is the tofu soup. Minced pork and tofu slices in chicken soup. Nothing extraordinary about this soup; taste was rather mild as I couldn't tell if it was chicken soup or not. However, ingredients were quite a lot in the soup. Can be ordered if you do not want to have tom yum soup.

3 side dishes! Smile Jul 10, 2012
Categories : Western variety | Restaurant | Steaks / Chops | Burgers / Sandwiches | Halal

Where does one go when he or she craves for grilled chicken? Nando’s of course!

Recently, Nando’s has introduced 3 new side dishes; namely sweet potato, spinach and mucho peas. During my last visit to Nando’s outlet at Sunway Giza Mall, I chose their latest promotion which is chicken plus three side dishes at the price of RM19.90.

As you can see from the picture above, I chose ¼ grilled chicken to go with sweet potato, Mediterranean rice and Peri chips. The sweet potatoes were cut into small chunks and cooked with cinnamon, turmeric and the special Peri-peri sauce. Undeniably, I did not like this side dish due to its taste. It tasted sourish with mild spiciness and I had no idea what is the source of sourness. The combination of these 2 tastes is weird. As for the rice, it had green peas, onions and carrots in it, thus it’s fragrant and nice to be eaten with the Peri chips that were coated with salt and chili powder. In addition to that, I requested for the chicken to be in Lemon & Herb flavour. This is because I can’t take spicy food and I get to enjoy the chicken in its most original form. The chicken was grilled to perfection with the right “crispiness” for the skin and juicy meat on the inside.
