Tea in meals Smile Jun 26, 2012

Categories : Chinese | Restaurant | Seafood

I was introduced to this restaurant by a coursemate of mine but always didn't have the chance to dine in due to unforeseen circumstances. Finally, when the 8 of us had a gathering, we all decided to have our dinner here. It's better to come in larger groups so you have the options of ordering dishes instead of a la carte meals.

As the name of restaurant would have implied, dishes here are infused with tea, even the rice.

绿茶饭 Green tea rice

玫瑰茶汤芫菜
Rose tea soup with chinese spinach
Tea used: 玫瑰花茶 Rose tea
Definitely very unique. The smell of roses have made this soup more appetizing.

芝士香橙茶虾
Sauteed prawn with orange and cheese with dressing in tea
Tea used: 绿茶龙井 Long jing green tea
I thought this was quite normal. Prawns were rather small (I thought they would be bigger for the price we paid for it) and the orange-y taste was quite bland.

龙井金瓜烩豆腐
Braised beancurd and golden pumpkin in tea sauce
Tea used: 绿茶龙井 Long jing green tea
My favourite! Sweetness of pumpkin complimented well with the beancurds which were tasteless.

姜茸蒸鱼片
Steamed slice fish with mashed ginger in tea sauce
Tea used: 茉莉香片 Jasmine Tea
Too much of ginger here that I could only tell that the fish slices were spicy. However, it did stimulate my senses to be better! lol

乌龙肉骨茶 (鸡肉)
Oolong bak kut teh
Tea used: 冻顶乌龙 Dong ding oolong
This is not your ordinary BKT. It was cooked with chicken instead of pork and the broth smelled and tasted like tea. The taste was not as flavourful as of those BKT broths you can find in other places such as Yip Yong.

Desserts!
Clockwise: 茉莉茶冻 Cold winter jelly, 绿茶布丁 Summer green pudding, 焦糖布丁 Spring romance pudding, 乌龙茶冻 Autumn tea jelly.
All of these puddings were really refreshing! Don't worry though, they weren't really sweet. I could finish all four on my own tongue

Attack the yolk! Smile Jun 26, 2012

Bf loves ramen while I'm not really a big fan. I suppose it's normal to eat the type of food that your lover loves right? And now, I find myself crave for ramen on rainy day sometimes.

Both of us stumbled across this restaurant while waiting for time to pass around KL city one day. Needless to say, this was his choice to have lunch. Limited amount of dishes were served here, mainly ramen.

Presenting you the house specialty - Marutama Ra-men; ramen in chicken broth with Char Siu slices, seaweed, spring onion and 3/4 boiled egg.

The broth at Marutama was very flavourful, but it's a shame it's not pork broth sad Char Siu was tender and fat as well. Among all ingredients, I loved the egg the most!

That's not all, if you want your ramen/broth to even more flavourful, there’s free flow of deep fried sliced garlic and freshly roasted sesame seeds provided.

Sweet Saturday @ MOF Smile Jun 26, 2012

It has been a really long time since I stepped foot in this dessert shop. My first visit was the outlet in Pavilion though. Now, I was quite surprised that MOF serves not only desserts but other main courses as well shocked

This is the Mini Macha Zen Combo Set. According to the set description on the menu, it's Hokkaido red bean paste with low-fat Japanese green tea gelato and Japanese dumplings served with Japanese mochi and soy bean powder. Sounds so delicious just by reading the descriptions eh?

I love the combination of hot red bean paste and cold gelato! Quite huge portion for me though. Other than that, I really liked the mochi! Crunchy on the outside and soft inside. Did I mention that the sauce that drizzled over the mochis was really sweet too? Had no idea why I was given another small portion of the sauce :|

Tom yam!  Smile Jun 26, 2012

Categories : Thai | Restaurant | Juices / Bubble Tea / Tea / Yogurt | Vegetarian

I used to visit this restaurant with my coursemates when I was still a student and lived around Jalan Genting Klang. The name of the shop is a bit misleading, heh. It doesn't just sell fruit juices actually, but rather a muslim Thai food restaurant which also specializes in tom yum.

My tom yam ayam. Love the spiciness of the soup; burns your tongue and the taste lingers in your mouth and makes you crave for more. This is the tom yam I would torture myself with since my tolerance for spiciness is really low. Soup is neither too thick or "powdery", cooked just nice to my liking. You can always drink this bowl of soup on its own or eat it with rice, of course!

Telur bistik. Egg with chicken and assorted vegetables. Another dish that goes well with rice. I loved ordering this dish to go along with the spicy tom yam because the sweet tomato gravy neutralizes the spiciness lol

Of course, you can make your own fruit juices here! Just tell them your preferences of what kind of fruits should be mixed together and woila, it will be served to you smile

As I was told by many people that Dragon-i is famous for its Shanghainese steamed meat dumpling 小龙包, I finally visited this place just to order this dish.

The dumpling skin is not as translucent as I expected it to be, but all dumplings looked delicious at first sight. Bf taught me the proper way of eating this beforehand so I wouldn't waste the "soup" contained in it.

Took my first bite at one corner and the soup was already oozing out. Very hot and flavourful until I thought it was worth it to burn my tongue because of this, hehe. Once I've consumed the soup, I slowly enjoyed the meat in it. Minced chicken and pork, topped with some fresh ginger slices and dipped in black vinegar, the dumpling was indeed tasty.

Be careful not to break the skin with your chopsticks though before it reaches your mouth tongue
