At the 39 Restaurant, Ramadhan buffet is priced at RM99++ and this is my first time stepping into this business hotel. I'm really satisfied with the many choices in the buffet. Some that satiates my palate are rendang ayam, nasi briyani, gulai kawah masak ikan masin, just to name a few.

Nothing can beat the lemang here, surprisingly it is one of the best I've tried. Apart from the strong coconut milk flavour in the glutinous rice, the flavour is further enhanced by some salt. And a dip into the sweet serunding ayam is simply perfect. The rice is neither too dry nor soggy, with the moist flakes of chicken floss. Delicious.

In conjunction with the Hari Raya celebration by Hotel Armada Petaling Jaya, I went for their Ramadhan buffet, which is priced at RM 85++ per adult. The buffet spread is really wide that I don't know which to choose! For the starter, I had different types of Kerabu, as well as western cold cuts.

Among so many malay hot dishes, this is the best I've tried. I'm totally smitten with the galangal fried chicken, which is deep fried into golden brown perfection with a strong aroma of local herbs. The shredded galangal itself is very flavourful and good to go with some light nasi briyani! The lengkuas itself is very sweet with the herbs flavours.

For this holy month of Ramadhan, Terazza Brasserie has live ghazal performance by the Kumpulan Wak Long. So nice the music goes with the food, I enjoy the ramadhan buffet spread with many live cooking stations and as well as live grilling of meat and seafood.

For some beefy dish, I tried this with the sweet and spicy cooking style. Braised with turmeric leaves, chilli and coconut milk for hours, the short ribs are very flavoursome and I just can't resist the tenderness of the meat! Again, this is mild enough for those who cannot stand hot spicy food. The coconut milk has enhanced the sweetness in this dish.

Buka Puasa @ Café 5  Smile Jul 25, 2012

Pearl International Hotel is now a brandnew icon along Old Klang Lama after its refurbishment. I find that their local food is quite satisfying with the buffet price tag at only RM55++. The spread is quite wide, but I don't enjoy the seafood there, not as fresh as I thought.

Other than that, the curry, rendang and fried foodstuff are all very flavourful, strong in coconut milk flavours yet not too sweet for my liking. I enjoy their dates before heading for the hearty nasi briyani. For the nasi briyani, it is rather dry but still acceptable with the strong aroma and firm texture. Delicious!

Buka Puasa @ Little Pantry Smile Jul 25, 2012

Little Pantry is a brightly-lit cafe in IOI Mall, and now it is having Buka Puasa promotion. I went there with my friends, and at onlly RM35++ we got to enjoy the ramadhan buffet. The spread is not as huge as those offered in hotels, but it is still satisfying especially when their staff keeps recommending us their Nasi Briyani Bukhara, Daging Varuval and Kambing Rogunjosh.

I don't normally take beef and lamb in local style, so I opt for some fried local favourites which are equally good too. Other than that, there are over 40 items, which I didn't get to try all. Most of the food is fresh, kept warm, and I love their fluffy rice to go with the fried foodstuff. Very aromatic and not too salty for me.

For dessert, I enjoy the Bread and Butter Pudding the most. It is sweet, warm and good in texture. Will definitely be back to Little Pantry at other times for their desserts!
