Brotzeit German Bar & Restaurant has been a firm favourite among pork devotees and beer connoisseurs seeking for a satisfactory dinner and after-work drinks, with conveniently located branches in Bangsar Shopping Centre, Sunway Pyramid and Mid Valley.

Little do we realise that Brotzeit is also a great place for breakfast/lunch as its Sunday brunch menu features an array of hearty breakfast sets including a cup of freshly brewed coffee or tea. The portion is pretty sizeable, so I am sure you’d love the idea of sharing the platter while you get to enjoy more varieties.

Brotzeit Signature Breakfast @ RM32.50

Kickstarting our day with a cup of cappuccino and a glass of watermelon juice (Add-on fruit juices @ RM6 each), the crowd’s favourite Brotzeit Signature Breakfast is all we need to fuel the day while satisfying our cravings for hogs.

No breakfast set can be more complete than the hearty open-faced sandwiches—Layers of smoky ham, belly bacon, emmenthaler cheese, onions and tomatoes sitting on multigrain bread)—2 sunny side-ups, streaky bacon and Brotzeit’s well-loved sausages.

The signature Nürnberger Grilled Pork Bratwurst sausages here are uniquely made using Brotzeit’s traditional recipe. The resulting taste? Extra savoury with delicious crunch. Best paired with the creamy mashed potatoes. I love how the mash exudes strong flavours of milk and butter, while retaining its chunky texture without being too mushy.

Hangover Breakfast @ RM28

The hangover breakfast lives up to its name! You’d enjoy this amazing meaty combination of beef goulash soup, bacon and smoked salmon served with a farm fresh omelette (You can choose to have it fried, poached, scrambled etc) and Laugen bread roll. The platter tends to be a tad salty, but trust me, it’d taste just nice on the palate to cure that hangover after a night of drinking.

Dip the sweet bread roll into the thick beef stew for a kick of spices that tantalizes the taste buds.

Savoury Pancake @ RM22

If you feel like going for something less heavy, perhaps digging into the soft thin pancake filled with feta cheese, tomatoes and olives with egg (Poached, scrambled or fried) on crisp-hot toasted multi-seed bread sounds like a good idea?

However, the feta cheese adds a distinctive salty taste which may not be acceptable for some. To cut through the heavy flavours, we pair it with the house special 0.3 litre bier mixer and the resulting taste is totally well-balanced!

Affensaft (Weissbier with Mango Juice) @ RM23

At Brotzeit, it is never too early to drink as good food comes hand in hand with delicious handcrafted beer here. The Munich’s classic Weissbier is light, unfiltered and slightly malty with hints of banana. Mango juice adds sweetness into the concoction, making me going for more.

Refreshing on the mouth and sweet on the palate, it is safe to say that the taste is acceptable even for non-drinkers. I must make sure that I try the other variation, Weissbier with Banana Juice the next time I visit Brotzeit!

Chocolate Lava Cake @ RM25

Lastly, dessert is here to conclude our Sunday brunch date. Brotzeit’s version of molten lava cake is not what we normally have out there. Encased in the crispy outer shell is the melting hot white chocolate, so creamy, so rich that it puts me on cloud nine.

No worries if it seems too sweet, because the tartness from the duo sauces—Forest berry and Australia plum— cut through the sweetness and balance out the overall taste. Seriously, you gotta try this out!

Do swing by, grab a seat by the bar, in the dining area or at the verandah,

and spend your lazy Sunday or Public Holiday sipping on the beer while tucking in wholesome breakfast sets.

Antipasto Lunch Buffet Smile Jul 25, 2012

Categories : Italian | Hotel Dining | Pizza/Pasta | Fine Dining

Built on stilts above a scenic lake overlooking the beautiful tropical garden, Senja Italian Restaurant has a very romantic setting, with classy, exquisite seats and a bar with live band performance at night. Now that it is opened to all, for the daytime dining.

And today I get an opportunity to sample the Antipasto Misto Lunch Buffet: 3-Course Meal.

Polenta with Fennel and Gorgonzola Dressing

Being a staple food of the north, this elegant mush is made from finely grounded maize, sprinkled with grilled fennel and light cheesy gorgonzola. Full of health goodness, it is soft, slightly sweet and creamy in texture.

Filetto di Branzino con Spinaci Saltati Salso Mediterraneo e Bucce Di Arance Candite @ RM 75

Alternatively, you can order from the ala carte menu. Two thick fillets of sea bass is moist and pretty well-balanced up with the spicy seafood sauce and orange zest. I enjoy its firm yet flaky texture, thumbs up!

Tortino Morbido al Cioccolato con Caramel Croccantine e Gelato @ RM29

Forget about French, in English it is simply dubbed as "Snickers Version 2009". Well, it is a piece of hot chocolate cake served with a strike of crunchy caramel biscuit topped with a scoop of chocolate ice cream. A double chocolate sensation it is, I shall call it the star of the day! The best moment arrives when the rich chocolate lava oozes out from the cake. A simple mixture of egg, butter and chocolate, in the hands of Chef Giunta, can be so rich and thick with the melt-in-the-mouth feel! What's more about it is the deep chocolate flavour pairs wonderfully with the Häagen-Dazs ice cream.

Cantonese Menu @ The Emperor Smile Jul 01, 2012

Categories : Chinese | Hotel Dining | Seafood | Dim sum

Set within a lush garden across the arch bridge, the Grand Dorsett’s award-winning Cantonese restaurant, The Emperor is currently offering the very finest of classical Cantonese cuisine from 15 June to 14 July 2012. Equipped with over 35 years of experience, Hong Kong Guest Chef Shek Kam Yung has created an unique and authentic Halal menu to appeal to all palates.

Upon entering the restaurant, I am entranced by the elegance, while admiring the traditional Chinese paintings and décor’ in the wooden setting.

Crispy Sliced Duck Meat with Pineapple in Sweet and Sour Sauce @ RM30
(紫萝炒鸭片)

The star of the evening arrives. The indulgent duck meat has been left overnight in a special marinade before it is deep-fried to perfection. I find the tender meat has a very porky texture, well-suffused with deep-seated sweet and sour nuances. A great effort to develop such tender chunks of mock pork from the duck meat. Truly delicious!

Chilled Rainbow Jelly Cake (七彩棉花糕)

At my first piece, I am so delighted. Soft and lightly sweet, the colorful dessert has the melt-in-the-mouth texture which leaves me totally speechless. What makes it even better is the better scent from the sprinkles of grated coconut.

Happy Hakka 2012! Smile Jan 03, 2012

Since my all-time favourite is about FOOD, hereby I'm posting some food which I'd love to have during the brand new year. And guess what? The food I'm going to introduce is the Hakka Cuisine lol

Why HAKKA? Simply because this kind of food is getting more and more rare in Malaysia, and not many Chinese know how to appreciate them. Anyway hope you enjoy them lol

The location of the day is an authentic Hakka restaurant around Bandar Puteri Puchong, which you would rarely notice because there are way too many food and beverages outlet around the town.

Hakka Passion is a Non-Halal restaurant which serves Authentic home-style Hakka cooking, with air-conditioned ambience and Wi-Fi supported.

I love the cozy, traditional ambience of the restaurant which gives me a warm feeling. It is most suitable for family gathering while enjoying the authentic Hakka foodstuff of premium quality.

The overall meal is just fabulous; The food stuff served while hot is absolutely good. While the dessert was a total speechless and had my lip sealed with delight. That's a fabulous way to start kick 2012!

Looking for something different in town, I’m tempted to try out the Shumatsu Buffet at Eyuzu Japanese Cuisine at Eastin Hotel, Petaling Jaya. This Japanese buffet is really something to look forward to, because it is really satisfying based on past comments and I have never heard any complaints bout this restaurant.

Under the perfect dining ambiance, Chef Ricky Hui has prepared us a sumptuous buffet spread. What a weekend treat it is as I can enjoy different Japanese gastronomic fare with the little Japanese table setting and live fishes in the aquarium bowls.

Sashimi Set

The first and best thing to relish in is definitely an array of sashimi. It is well-presented in thick cuts which reveal its juiciness upon each bite. The preparation from the kitchen is almost never-ending, and we can always savour the freshest slice of sashimi.

Marinated White Tuna

I’m totally smitten with this platter of raw fish which is heavily marinated with butter and garlic. Very thin slice, but smooth and tender flesh with slightly saltiness. As flavourful as it is, the touch of freshness is retained.

Overall, anything raw here is fresh and succulent. I love the concept whereby it serves more diversified Japanese cuisine which we rarely see.
