Suki-Ya Smile Aug 09, 2012

Categories : Japanese | Restaurant | Steamboat/Hotpot | Group/Family dining

Suki-Ya is famed for its Sukiyaki and Shabu Shabu, meaning that we can eat all we want from the hot pot and the sizzling hot cooking plate. The place is clean and cooling, unlike other steamboats I have tried.

The Japanese soup base is rather light, and healthier in a way that it is full of seaweed. I love putting more corns and vegetables into it to enhance its sweetness.

The sushi there is freshly made, and the taste of vinegar is rather light in the rice. I prefer those with heavier notes.

For the meat, I grill it so that it can turn out heavier in saltiness but overall it is very flavourful when accompanied with some soup too.

Uncle Jang Korean Restaurant Smile Aug 09, 2012

I have been to the outlet of Uncle Jang Korean Restaurant at Bandar Puteri, which is noisier than this outlet at Solaris Mont Kiara. I love the tranquility here, with not much crowd during a weekday dinner.

The sizzling hot pan is used to cook my favourite mixture of vegetables and meat. A large amount of kimchi paste is added into it, to enhance the sour and spicy flavours into the dish. I love to have such hot dish with cold Korean rice too.

Dim Sum at Tang Palace Smile Aug 09, 2012

Categories : Chinese | Restaurant | Seafood

Dynasty Hotel KL has an authentic Cantonese restaurant in it, named Tang Palace. It has a very traditional ambiance, with lots of Chinese paintings and motives around.

I went there for their dim sum and the prawn balls are crispy on the outside, with fresh big prawns instead. The taste is savoury salty with chunks of vegetables in it.

For the carrot cake, it is served hot, and not oily at all. I love the soft mushy texture, with burnt edges. Quite salty for this, but tastes good after dipping into sweet chilli sauce.

The mini egg tarts are lightly sweetened. crispy and delicious too.

The meal for 2 pax costs me around RM100, which is quite pricey for normal dim sum. But I enjoyed the meal with good food and nice ambiance.

Coffee Chemistry Signature Smile Aug 03, 2012
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Western variety | Café | Steaks / Chops | Noodles

Coffee Chemistry Signature is very famous at First Subang Mall. Their coffee is unique by itself, not comparable with Starbucks or any other coffee specialty shop because the strong taste, freshness and a hint of mildness are different from others.

I have a simple lunch there. My carbonara turns out not so creamy, but the sauce is very smooth and cheesy. I love the meat on it which adds deeper salty flavours to the plate of pasta. The portion is quite huge, and they are generous in putting more meat and vege in it. The noodle itself is slightly sweet, springy and good to add with some pepper to give better taste.

Antipodean Café Smile Aug 03, 2012
Categories : Western variety | Café | Steaks / Chops | Burgers / Sandwiches

Antipodean Café is a great place to hang out for a sunny morning. Early in the morning it is already very crowded with people , most of them ordering their famous big breakfast set.

I have mine too, and the portion is really huge that a petite sized person would not be able to finish it. The bacon streak is very crunchy but a little oily for me. The bread is very fresh, with naturally sweet and salty flavours bursting with the smooth scrambled eggs. Delicious and hearty breakfast it is!
