Lunch at Mamak, Cheras OK Jun 12, 2012
Categories : Stall / Warung

I don't usually go for my main meal at mamak stall, because their portion is either too oily and over filling for my small appetite. However, there is always the first try, and I order a packet of fried rice with meat.

Here is my nasi goreng paprik daging, realising that it can be so colorful and healthy with vegetables. The meat is quite hard but the rice is fried nicely, neither too soggy nor heavy in taste. Surprisingly, this particular mamak doesn't use much oil in frying the rice. Overall, I'm satisfied with my simple lunch.

Cheap Economic Rice @ Cheras OK Jun 12, 2012
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Chinese | Kopitiam

On the way back from work, I packed some economic mixed rice home for lunch. The stall does not look filthy at all, and the dishes are presented nicely in each plate so I find them quite appetizing.

I choose some bitter gourd, sweet & sour fish fillet and braised egg for my mixed rice. And it only costs me RM5.00 , I do consider this quite affordable because usually rice with fish costs more than this. The fish fillet is quite soft yet flaky, after I heat up the whole dish. But for the braised egg as well as bitter gourd, I think it is slightly tasteless. Overall, it is just normal except for the fish.

Chinese Cuisine at Taang Shifu  OK Jun 11, 2012

Categories : Chinese | Restaurant | Seafood | Noodles

Taang Shifu is a Chinese food chain serving all kinds of chinese food, especially good for its double-boiled soup with values of goodness.

We ordered 4 dishes for 3 pax sharing. The braised healthy pot of mushroom and vegetables is so heavenly with the thick, gluey sauce. I can just take more than a bowl of rice with these dishes! The beancurd dish is not bad, but kind of overpriced. As for the soup, I find it very light and mild.

The place is good for family dining and casual dining, I'd bring my family for this next time!

Ding Tea OK Jun 11, 2012
Categories : Taiwanese | Stall / Warung | Juices / Bubble Tea / Tea / Yogurt

Very similar to Chatime, Gong Cha and others, here I come across Ding Tea. Honestly I have not seen this outlet anywhere else before, so I just order a cup for trying.

I ordered some light green tea with moderate level of sugar. Surprisingly, the sweetness of sugar here is quite acceptable. I think opting for half sugar would be too bland for the green tea. The green tea is just light but not as aromatic as those I've tried before. Good to know that there is this tea shop here, very thirst-quenching after shopping!

Wan Tan Mee  OK Jun 11, 2012
Categories : Chinese | Kopitiam | Noodles

During the weekend, I went there with my family for breakfast. I have a sudden urge for wan tan mee so I ordered a plate of dry wan tan mee.

The dried version is not so dry after all. The dark sauce is quite watery and the noodles soften after being soaked for too long. However, it is good to taste the fresh noodle with no alkaline flavours. It looks simple but considered good. Not the best I have tried though.
