Don't Resist These 12 Deliacies in Mid Valley!
2017-06-22
Street food culture has been gaining attention in recent years. Let’s face it — what’s better than street food? In fact, we’d say some of us love street food more than the food we get in restaurants!

To accommodate the growing popularity, Mid Valley has been seeing an influx of shops selling a variety of street food. As Shang from Mulan would say, let’s get down to business — to see what kinds of street delicacies there are!

They have graced Malaysia with their presence for a while already now, but their popularity hasn’t waned in the slightest. On weekends, it’s common to see a bunch of patrons flocking to them and it’s not difficult to understand why — their yogurt soft-serve has that sourness we all crave without being too overwhelming. Top it off with their selection of sweet toppings and voila — perfection in a cup!

The one and only KitKat store in the entirety of Malaysia is at MidValley. KitKat lovers will never want to leave this place as it’s basically a heaven of KitKats coming in many different flavours. The best thing is you can customize your own KitKat — all the way from the chocolate base to the packaging, with 16 different toppings to choose from.

Popcorns aren’t just available at cinemas; you can easily access them at Eureka Snack Bar — and in 14 different flavours! The ones that stood out to us would be the durian, kimchi and curry flavours. They even have a Popcorn Chocolate Bar that we also highly recommend for an experience you can’t find anywhere else — bite into the chocolate bar and meet the popcorns hiding within!

Get a Spanish dash at this churro store in Mid Valley. Unlike the Chinese you char kway, churros are crispy on the outside and can be eaten either plain or with different kinds of toppings, such as chocolate sauce and ice-cream. We guarantee your experience with these churros will leave you so breathless you can’t even muster enough energy to say me gusta.

Zhang Village is a local brand that has existed since the period of independence. You will find flavours that will remind you of nothing but home, with products including durian cakes, coconut candy, chicken-flavoured black sesame thin biscuit and Benton ginger products. Why not introduce your foreign friends to the Malaysian culinary scene by getting them some souvenirs from here?

Who’s down for some freshly made takoyaki!? We highly recommend Gindaco because their takoyaki are usually crispy on the outside. There are even four different flavours to choose from — including original, negidako, cheese mentaiko and teritama. You’re missing out on a ton if you don’t try this!

As Malaysians, it’s nearly impossible for us to reject coconut-based desserts — Sangkaya included. The ice-cream is actually made fresh on a daily basis and no artificial flavouring is added — its coconut taste is genuine. To be able to savour the beauty of Sangkaya’s ice-cream is truly a privilege we shouldn’t take for granted.

8. Family Mart
Despite being the second branch to open in Malaysia, it still saw a large crowd on its opening day. You can find products that you can’t find in other local convenience stores, but what really sold us was their ice-cream. For as low as RM2.90, you can get yourself an attractive cone of green tea ice-cream! Although there are only two flavours as of now (the other being vanilla), patrons still flock to them cones after cones.

We’ve all seen stalls selling sweet cooked corn at our local pasar malam. You’d be surprised to know you can get it in Mid Valley too! Their corns are actually imported from Perak and Sabah. With just a little bit of butter and salt added in the mixture, you get to savour a rich cup of corn.

Madame Waffle has attracted much attention since they came into existence. Like its name suggests, you can find nothing but delicious waffles here — each offering a distinct taste. A series of coffee beverages, including green tea latte, are also available to accompany you for an afternoon tea session.

11. Auntie Anne's
Let's get in on some good ol' pretzels, shall we? Who doesn't like pretzels? At Auntie Anne's, pretzels are available in numerous flavours, and they're even offered in the form of pret-sticks. Recommended flavours? Cinnamon and parmesan cheese. No questions asked.

12. La Juiceria
