Wong Chau Jun Fish Head Noodle (王昭君鱼头米粉) is located in Jalan Rangoon and so famous that most of the Penang people are well aware of but not me, what a shame.Finally I got a chance to try it out and it was a good memory as all foods served is delicious.It not easy to get a parking lot nearby this restaurant as the parking lot in front of the restaurant is limited and frequent patrolling by MPPJ scaring people off to park at yellow line, you can try park at the petrol station and walk over.Wong Ch

Wong Chau Jun Signature dish is the Spicy and Sour Fish Meat Bihun, you can opt for Fish Meat, Deep Fried Fish Meat or Fish Head. We choose Deep Fried Fish Meat and I pretty sure we making the right choice as the fish meat are fresh and delicious. The taste of the soup is not really spicy instead is more on the sour side with heavy lemongrass taste, the soup taste very strong and appetite.

Steamed Fish Hor Fun, another great dish that make us mouth watering. Fish meat and Hor Fun are steamed with soy sauce, fish meat is soft and fresh while Hor Fun is smooth, and mixing the soy sauce with Hor Fun is so delicious.

This is one of the sidelines in the restaurant that was highly recommended- Salad pork meat. The pork meat is crispy and fried with their special recipe. You can choose to mix the salad straight on top of the meat or separate it to taste the original flavor of the meat. The salad taste sweet and sour with slice vegetables in it. When the meat dip inside the salad, It gives a perfect taste of sweet and sour to the crispy meat. You can just eat like that or mix with rice.

Despite having their signature main dish- fish meat beehun, there are snacks and side dish to be odered at here as wellThis is the Wong Chao Jun signature toufu (sorry for the blur foto) it is the fried homemade tofu with dried shrimps.A small plate of this dish consist of 6 pieces of big tofu and enough for 2-3 person. The tofu is very soft and smooth, it taste a bit salty with the dried shrimps. You can add sambal on it to add the spicy flavor on the soft tofu.

Different from the normal hor fun that is fried with seafood or special sauce, this white soft hor fun is steamed with fresh fish, which make it a unique dish. We can taste the salty of soy sauce with the sweetness of fresh fish taste. Plus they steamed the fish with ginger on top to reduce the fishy smell. It worth the price as the portion of fish in the dish is generous.

Opened from 8am until 2.30pm, you can try their fish beehun for breakfast and lunch hour. No matter what time I visit, the restaurant is always crowd of patrons. Opened from 8am until 2.30pm, you can try their fish beehun for breakfast and lunch hour. No matter what time I visit, the restaurant is always crowd of patrons. Great thing is we don’t have to wait long due to the well and rapid fire service of the restaurant.

For those who don’t take fish head like me, you can try their spicy and sour fish meat bee hun.
For the fish meat you can choose either deep fried it or not, I prefer fresh fish to be cooked like that. I had the fish meat beehun for the portion of two. The fish taste so good that it don’t has the fishy smell as it was very fresh. You can mixed with sambal to make it more spicy. Sour but not too sour, the soup gives a strong appetite and it was delicious!
It’s a must to try this signature dishes here, and you will never forget the taste .

Steamed fish with Hor Fun
The whole dish is pretty simple, but the freshness of the ingredient makes the dish excellent. It is actually thickly sliced hor fun and fresh fish meat drenched in soy sauce and steamed to perfection. The juiciness of the fish is locked inside the fish, making it so juicy and soft. The hor fun is very smooth, and taste even smoother with the soy sauce.
