Guess what? Am back to Penang again! This time round is meant for the celebration of my nearly half-jubilee best friend, who is getting married on the 8th day of the 8th month of Chinese calendar. So this time we pay a visit to an historical street called Cecil Street or fondly known as 7th street to the local folks here. There is this market that only starts operating at the peak in the afternoon, with many hawkers food ready to tantalize your palette.

One of the favorites here is this Pasembur.

It seem like rojak but of Indian version without any fruit, or so I call it, hehe
It comes with few disks of prawn fritters which are fried till crispy. Then with slices of juicy cucumber and fried bean curd, they are good to go with savory gravy which looks orangey. It’s not spicy, just a bit starchy with mild sweetness. The ingredients used were fresh and delectable as well. Besides, you could also find a fried flour fritters which bears the taste of meaty –like. Am not too sure what it is made of, but it’s delish though it’s a no-frills thingy.

This duck meat koay trow th'ng has been operating at Lebuh Cecil Market for many years. I think they have been 3 generations selling duck meat koay teow soup. A bowl of duck meat koay teow soup comes with very thin slices of duck meat, fish paste, a fish ball, a meat ball, slices of pork meat, coagulated duck blood, spring onions and roasted garlics. I am impressed that all the meat can be sliced till so thin. Luckily i still can taste the duck of the duck meat. I like the fried fish paste and meat ball very tasty. Noodle koay teow is kind of special which is more thinner type. The soup is actually quite mild but still had a nice fragrance of duck. First time trying the coagulated duck blood, the texture like jelly and itself is tasteless. Overall the taste has actually dropped compared to several years ago when i was young.

Mee Jawa
RM 3.20 per plate

Overall, I like the Mee Jawa very much.
It comes with noodles, egg, char siew, a prawn and tau kua.
I find that the gravy of the mee jawa is a little sweet.
I actually suggests and think that by putting in the chilly provided, that will makes your mee jawa taste better.
This will not make the gravy taste spicy at all.
So, don't worry if you could not eat chilly type of person~!
The portion of the noodles is quite a lot.
Price is also very reasonable and the service is very fast as well.
Overall, a very pleasant meal

This mee jawa is one of the most famous stall in the market. Normally the workers will just keep cooking and taking orders. It's served with dry bencurd, tofu pok, sliced pork meat, bean sprout and prawns. Then topped with a thickish orange in color gravy which is made out from potatoes. I tried once and fall into it every time i visit this market. The gravy is so duper sourish to open up one's appetite. It has a strong nice aroma too. All the ingredients in it is fresh even the prawns. Some sambal chili is served separately at the spoon. Added some may enhance the taste but i normally it without chili, like its original taste.
