Batu Lancang Market Food Court is a one stop food destination that can satisfies everyone's appetitie. It is located at Lintang Batu Lancang, Jelutong. One of the stalls sells assam laksa noodles.Assam laksa noodlesThis assam laksa is below my expectation. It is not as good as the other assam laksa found in Penang. The broth does not has enough flavour and there is not much toppings given. The noodle itself is alright in terms of texture as it is not too firm or soft.

The roasted pork was nice as I request of not having the oily part of the pork. The pork was crispy on the top with smooth and soft meat . The chicken rice has a great aroma as well. The boss is a very nice person . A plate of roast pork like this cost just RM 3.40.

The best part is after you have done your marketing, you can retire to the hawker stalls for snacks. Among the popular hawker food you can have at this food court include the Pasembur, Char Koay Teow, Tau Sa Pia and many more. But am more interested in Yau Char Kuay and Ham Chim Peng at one of the long standing stall here.

It is operated by a senior couple, which according to my aunt; the business has been passed on to him by his father. And the business just continues to grow. It can be quite a long queue, so sometimes I just opt to take away, so that I can enjoy comfortably at my home sweet home. By just looking at the uncle preparing the dough, and the wife helping with the frying, makes it such a warm lovely sight ^^

The Yau Char Koay was fried just nice. It’s crispy at the outside but fluffily soft in the inside. But it can be bit oily at times, hehe. As for the Ham Chim Peng, you can choose from 3 types; original (no filling but salty), red bean or with sweet white glutinous rice. I personally prefer the third variety as it gives the dough a mild sweetness amidst some salty taste of the fried dough. Definitely one of the best snacks during tea time

And did I mention that we did our groceries in the evening? Yea, it’s different from the normal market which we usually see operating in the morning. Anyway, do take note that all activities winds down after 7 pm, so make sure you don’t come too late

Their chee cheong fun is silky smooth and chewy. I actually love biting it.

Penang style of curry mee is very different from the ones in KL. Penang curry mee is more of the coconut milk that makes the soup looks whitish in color. The soup taste is mild spicy that any kids can eat it. Mixing the homemade chilli paste at your own taste may enhance the soup to taste more fragrantly. Most importantly the ingredients here are all very fresh and sweet, especially the prawns and cockles. One thing i like about this stall curry mee is because they provide this mint leaves that

Teh ice and Chrysanthemum

First of all, forget about the price but is very cheap.
The drinks is very sweet too especially the chrysanthemum.
I actually love their chrysanthemum very much because a lot of coffee shop that sells
this drink usually will put very less sugar.
Oh yeah, I knew that the lesser the sugar level, the better it is !
However, I just have a sweet tooth

About the teh ice, well no comment....!
Just plain ordinary tho

The taste of the wantan mee is sort of tasteless to me.
The soy sauce is kinda too watery and the aroma is not very strong as well.
The wantan is pretty good actually with the meat stuff inside is quite soft and tender.
The portion of the noodles is pretty small for a regular costs of a wantan mee in my opinion.

Penang Assam Laksa

RM 3 per bowl

As usual, I prefer my laksa to be plain without all the vegetables.
First of all, the laksa soup is just average.
Not very spicy or sour at all, just plain ordinary.
The fish is also pretty hard to bite and I don't think its very fresh as well.
One thing that I did notice and very disappointed about is that the chopsticks and spoon
that the stall provided is not very clean.
Portion of the serving is fine, very average for the price that they charged
