Many Penangites know this as one of the best places to have Hokkien noodles at. In fact, they were voted as the favourite by many locals there at one point. The broth is thick and nicely lavished with hints of sweetness without overwhelming the prawn flavour. You may even request for topping of ingredients such as pork ribs and pork intestines.

Located just at the opposite of Double Happy Café, this roadside stall has been the center of numerous positive reviews around the internet. Their Hokkien noodles stand out because they include ingredients such as pork liver, pork skin and char siew, creating an even more delectable version of the dish. Worried about having to eat by the roadside? No worries, you can actually savour your noodles inside the café opposite the stall!

When there’s good food, there’s good reception, and by “good reception", we mean extremely long queues. This is the case with Super Hokkien Mee, but you know what they say — good food makes people do anything, and this is the case with their patrons. The portion is huge, the ingredients are bountiful, especially the fried onions and prawns, and best of all — it’s fairly cheap.

Cifu Omar serves halal Hokkien noodles that have people from all types of ethnic backgrounds flocking to them. Their chili paste is the sweet and spicy kind, and that’s good news because that’s the best type of chili paste there is to further flavour your noodles! Chicken meat is served in substitute of pork and the prawns are rich with a sweet tang.

Food is always the tastiest when it’s made by our beloved grannies. Such is the case at Granny’s Hokkien Mee as well. The noodles come in a whopping portion as with their ingredients at a cheap price. You can even opt to have it with pork heart and pork innards. Did we mention the spiciness is also open for your own customization with the chili paste they provide?

The Hokkien noodles here are possibly the closest to its original version. The ingredients aren’t as plentiful as some other Hokkien noodles, but what’s most important is its taste — their broth is exploding with flavour with every sip and bite you take. Definitely the spotlight of their Hokkien noodles. For a stronger spice, mixing the chili paste in the broth is recommended!
