Celup Celup! Had a day trip to Malacca and no doubt Satay Celup is one of a must-try when u go to Malacca. So we went to the infamous Ban Lee Siang Satay Celup which is super crowded compare to other shops which is rather empty.Hmm, i wonder why it must be something special about them. The Satay cost 60 cents per stick which is awesome! The Satay cost 60 cents per stick which is awesome! Basically the food is something you eat for steamboat lok-lok just the different is the soup you dipped in is Satay sauce. So its a combination of Lok Lok + Satay. Its something new and interesting for those first-timer like me because you cant' find these back in KL.

A few of my friends is kinda disgusted cause its not very hygienic because the sauce they never change for you, just the same old pot dipping by everyone else the whole night. we're kinda lucky we reached early and got the first pot.

Basically, its something new you should try for the first time for those who never try before.I like trying on new food and explore new taste!

First time I went to satay celup, it is based on self-service. RM0.60 per stick, nice! But just their environment are poor as well as they provided small and limited seat. Besides that, their shop is awfully hot. I think they should expand their shop if they want to grow their business. Their waitress will keep on add soup and check if the soup is enough for us and it is FOC.

As I was not hungry, I did not take so many sticks of satay but just enough to fill my cravings. I took an assorted of varieties from seafood to vegetables to quill eggs. All of these were taken from the refrigerator nearby in which many people were hustling and bustling to get their favourite satay.

The peanut sauce was boiling by the time I came back and so I just dipped everything into the pot. After a while everything was cooked (and some overcooked). The secret of satay celup is always the sauce, and this one did not disappoint. It was flavourful and aromatic. Full of the peanut goodness as the sauce was thick and rich.

My favourite would be the kangkung as it absorbed much of the peanut sauce, making it an excellent but strange combination.

The only problem with this restaurant is that it does not give you a new pot when you first take a seat. Like in many Malaysian restaurants, ignorance is bliss.

Initially we wanted to try the satay celup at Capitol but the queue was crazy so we settled for Restoran Ban Lee Siang which is super packed! They occupy two shops and both are full. Expect to sit in a warm & very tight place and squeeze with other customers to grab your food from the fridge. I was quite surprised that the staff managed to keep up with the amount of customers. Probably because the customers grab their own food? Each stick is 60 cents (mushrooms, baby corn, fishballs, pork, sausag

Each stick is 60 cents (mushrooms, baby corn, fishballs, pork, sausages etc). Pretty yummy but my personal favourite was strangely the BREAD! Omg so delicious!!! Soft bread soaked in hot peanut sauce is just yums... The oyster mushrooms and baby corns are great too. The food were fresh as they're stored in the fridge and stock is constantly replenished. Sauce is very thick, full of taste and slightly spicy.

Note : They do not change their sauce between each customer so you're eating leftover food and perhaps saliva from previous customers since god knows how long ago. Suggest you let the sauce boil before proceeding
