Went there twice, tried the brunch and pancakes, and it never fails to impress me. The portion for the breakfast was okay, just nice for a girl. My friends and I had a really great time. Finally got the chance to catch up with my best friend over some good comfort food! We plan to have lunch at a cafe and she recommended Yellow Brick Road, so we just went for it. Just next to Ben’s Departmental Store, I had good vibes about this cafe upon entering the cafe. There were 2 floors, and since the first floor was already full with people even though it was only 11.30 pm, they opened up the second floor for us!
The cafe was really nicely decorated, they even had a corner for the kids to play where those children books and mini tent were displayed. This cafe offered a variety of food, from salads to pancakes! We both ordered the Eggs Norwegian which was poached eggs on potato rosti, served with smoked salmon, avocado mash topped with passionfruit hollandaise sauce.
The combination of the poached eggs with with potato rosti and avocado mash mash was pure genius! All the elements went really well together. No doubt salmon complements any food well, and this dish wasn’t an exception. The passionfruit however was abit weird, this was my first time having passion fruit in my hollandaise sauce. Nevertheless, the dish was really delicious and I couldn’t finish my food for the first time because the portion was really big! Considering RM23 before tax for such a huge dish, it was definitely worth the money!

It was Friday lunch hour, the restaurant was full and I have queue up for 10mins for table. Not only this restaurant, it’s same goes to other restaurant in this compound.

I wanted to eat spaghetti today but the server informed me that the only spaghetti dish was sold out. Therefore, I have Balik Kampung and Cottage Pie for main course and Minimalist for dessert.

We waited for about 20mins in order our foods to be served. Balik Kampung (RM22), is a Asian delight rice set consist of Percik Drumstick, Fragrant Rice, Egg and Thai style Mango salad. Percik drumstick was served hot, coated with flavourful aroma sauce but not spicy at all. I like the Thai Style Mango salad, sourish and really appetizing.

Beef Rendang Cottage Pie (RM22) was freshly baked out from the oven, is burning hot upon serving. You have to be careful as the serving pot is hot. I have scrapped aside the smashed potato to have a closer look at the Rendang mince meat.

The mince meat was less spicy, however, it was very flavourful with very good aroma of curry. Best eat with the toast!

In fact, I would like to order their signature pancake “I wanna be Kaya” but it looks too heavy for us after finish the main course. Thus, Miimalist (RM14) aka pancake which is more suitable now. This is very simple pancake served with butter and maple syrup. Light and fluffy pancake which is on my liking. This is good!

Overall foods are good, but the portion is a bit huge for ladies. We managed to finish half of the portion only.

tried the second runner up for Malaysia barista competition, Shaun Liew's competition beans, Panama Kotowa Mandarina geisha which was sweet with the tangerine and brown sugar notes. Charged for 35 per set that comes with a shot of espresso and a white that comes in 4oz. Definitely a thing for all caffeine junkies to try out!

When I told my friend about this cafe, she was super excited to give it a try therefore we planned to have it for breakfast before our shopping at Sunway Pyramid Shopping Centre. Yellow Brick Road is located at Damansara Heights, Nearby Help University. They don’t have free car parking; it is RM 2 per hour. We were welcomed by the staff at the entrance and seated us in the 7 people table as it was the only table available inside the cafe. Yeah!! It was full house when we arrived around 9.30am. T

The ambiance of the cafe was lovely with beautiful Christmas decorations. They have both indoor and outdoor seating area and there is a giant Christmas tree outside the cafe for Christmas. I ordered Cheesy Mr Mac, Pulled Beef Benedict and Mint Verbena.

Muffin with poached eggs, broccoli and pulled beef is a brunch to satisfy the heartiest of appeties. Asparagus is replaced with broccoli as asparagus it out of stock that day but this combination is good as well.

It was wonderful breakfast for us before our shopping. Good service, delicious foods but the car pakring is a drawback for me. Sure drop by again for breakfast as it is located on the way to the college.

Regardless of being persuaded several times to try out different things when I'm here, I always seem to have these few things on my mind. Before I came here today, I did some research in blogs and google and read a lot about its quirky menus, befitting its name, "Yellow Brick Road" as in the Wizard of Oz. In fact, there is a Malay Mail article that talks about the 4 owners of this place who owns The Redbean Bag and they call themselves the characters in the Wizard of Oz. In fact, right on top of Yellow Brick Road is the Witch's Pancake House which will be opening soon.

The place was so crowded with people that you have to wait 20-30 minutes just for a table in the air-conditioned restaurant. Since I never wait for anything in life, I decided to dine al-fresco though it was quite a hot day. Anyway, credits to the hospitality of the waiter and waitress stationed at the al-fresco area just solely to serve the customers sitting outside. Compared to other coffee cafes, this is great service as usually we find it very difficult to even call the waiter.

The ambience inside is quite cosy and does not have the rustic feel of the Redbean Bag. There were potted plants hanging on the coffee bar. The strangest part is the sink which have small milk jugs overturned to be made into taps! That fits the description of Wizard of Oz. I guess this place never fails to impress in terms of details like that.

Both places, The Redbean Bag and also Yellow Brick Road are very famous for their brunch. The menu items are creatively named and also has creative ingredients. For instance, Balik Kampung (Percik Chicken with tomato rice), The Impasta (Aglio Olio Pasta with Chicken Char Siew), Beef Rendang Cottage Pie, La Bomba (Seafood hot pot broth with foccaccia), Prawny-O (prawn omelette) etc. The creative menu made me wanting to order everything.

I finally settled for Triple C Baked Eggs (RM 25) which comprised of minced beef and beef bratwurst chilli corn carne baked eggs served with toasted sundried tomato foccaccia. To me, I can neevr withstand not ordering baked eggs and it will determine my rating of the establishment once I have tried the baked eggs. I had very high expectation of this place due to the reviews that spoke highly of it but to my disappointment, the baked eggs is almost the same standard like Frisson Goat whereby the eggs could not be popped like the one at Frisky Goat. I ended up complaining while eating.

My friend is the kind of person who likes simple food so he just ordered Eggs of Toast (RM13) which was served with 2 pieces of toasted rye bread. I wonder, how as a cyclist and somebody who does a lot of sports just survive on bread and toast for the whole day's activities.

He ordered the Flat White (RM 11) which to him, who rates a cafe by their Flat White, is too light. For me, I felt it was not strong enough and preferred the one at The Quar Tet in TTDI.

As for beverage, the Affogato (RM 15) won me hands down! It was much better than the one at Basil Pasta which contains only bitterness. This one showns the ability of the vanilla ice-cream to balance out the bitterness of espresso and there was not a tinge of bitter taste inside yet it was not overly sweet like the Mamak coffee. The only thing is that there was a too little coffee in a shot of espresso served in a tea cup. Popcorn and cornflakes are sprinkled on top of the ice-cream which gives the strangeness to this dessert. Once dranked, it leaves you wanting more.
