Long weekends are a major blessing to me. Not only does it mean more time for me to rest & be a complete sloth, but also more chance to eat food that we normally have no chance to eat cause of time issue. This time mother wanted to go back to Bentong for our favourite getaway restaurant. With no hesitation we ordered their stir-fried pig intestine's with dried shrimp, garlic and chillies. With no hesitation we ordered their stir-fried pig intestine's with dried shrimp, garlic and chillies. This was as good as I last remembered it to be as the intestines were nicely crunchy and mixed with the saltiness of the extra bits plus chillies makes it even yummier. I kind of wished that we had ordered two plates instead of one.

And this was my mother's favourite which was poached kampung chicken. It was pretty good though considering that poultry is not my first choice of meat to eat, I was not too interested in this. However the ginger, scallion, garlic and oil mix that is meant to be eaten with the chicken was what I had more of.

We also ordered a simple steamed fish in soya sauce that came with ginger slices and fried garlic bits. However I kind of forgotten what kind of fish it was only that the meat was super tender & juicy because all their produce is as fresh as can be. Not surprising since we were practically sitting right next to a farm where there are actual animals.

As an added treat we got these fried prawns that were crunchy and salty too because of the batter they were tossed in. At least that's what I presume the flavours were from since there isn't a sauce or anything like that. These were my favourite cause the shells are super crispy which means no peeling required. Just pop them in your mouth and chew it all up.

Definitely worth the drive up here just for their food. Though be warned that over the weekends and any time later than 12pm, there is a crazy amount of people. All with the same idea too. So come early!

As a mini weekend getaway, my mom decided to bring her friends and myself to this restaurant which was a rather relaxing place to have brunch at. Though be warned, if you are there any later than 11pm then you would find it a struggle to get into as there's only one way in & out which is via the bridge; plus there's a scarce number of parking spaces. Also you would want to pick your table which the best place to be seated is down by the river. Half of a kampung chicken

A must order at this place is their steamed kampung chicken. Apparently the meat is fresh as the animal is killed to order or at least that's what they say. Even if the chicken is not immediately slaughtered then it is done so early in the morning to present optimum freshness.

This half of the bird was pretty good, though the meat was lacking in the springyness that comes from a good kampung chicken.

The other half of the chicken is cooked braised in ginger sauce. This was one of my favourite dishes as the flavour was good.
Herbal soup.

Another order that was my favourite is the herbal soup with pork meat. Apparently this soup had been brewing since the crack of dawn to provide maximum flavour and I believe them. The herbal scent & taste was thick and the soup had an immense amount of depth in flavour. I had two helpings of this.
Stir fried Wild Boar with ginger and scallions

Something that comes highly recommended by the restaurant is their wild boar dishes. A famous way of cooking the exotic meat is to be braised in curry but we opted for it to be stir-fried with ginger and scallions. This isn't a very common and easily found dish in KL so this was interesting.

The meat is more chewy and less fatty than regular pork, so there's more bite to this. Plus there's a very distinct meaty taste that not even plenty of ginger or scallion can cover. Worth a try if wild boar meat is something you have yet to taste.

The place isn't very easily found, but waze will guide you there easily. However if you are up for the drive out of KL then this is an interesting restaurant to have a meal at, especially for a family day out.
