Another colleague ordered the wan tan mee, dry version. First time we saw wan tan mee dry version being served in a soup bowl, and we were teasing the colleague about it. The noodles were done OK, slightly softer for my liking. The soya sauce and dark sauce mix was a bit light, so it was slightly tasteless. The char siew was so-so, and it didn’t have the half fat, half lean bit. It was all lean. The wan tan in soup was more acceptable, though the soup was tasted of MSG. The wan tan was of medioc

As the pig stomach pepper soup can be quite heaty to the body, I decided to order a glass of herbal tea, or pak chee chou as the waitress calls it, in lieu of my carbonated Coca-Cola. The herbal tea was so-so, slightly diluted and doesn’t have much ice. I guess if there were more ice added, the herbal tea would have no taste at all. Priced at RM1.30 per glass, it was a decent amount to pay.

My colleague was hankering for some fried koay teow. So she ordered, but when the dish came, it was fried koay teow mee. They must have mixed up some orders, but nevertheless, we still acceptable it and paid. The noodles were fried full of wok hei. Lots of ingredients such as prawns, cockles, Chinese sausage, beansprouts, eggs and gau choy. Not too salty, and just a bit wet, the way I like it. Priced at RM5 a plate, it was a decent amount to pay for lunch.

Some colleagues suggested that we go to Weng Soon Jaya for lunch. I immediately agreed, as I am a fan of the stall that serves pig stomach pepper soup there. The no-frills soup plus white rice is very welcomed, especially on a dreary raining day. I had to queue up a bit as it is self service. Their soup is so good that people don’t mind queuing up for ages just to get some soup. The pig stomach pepper soup is piping hot, very delectable. Slightly spicy and salty, it goes very well with the white

Both my colleagues ordered from the Kampar Fish Ball Noodles stall. However, they each got different types of noodles and ingredients. One was loh shee fun with taufu, balls and minced meat, and the other one was hor fun mee hoon with purely fishballs. The loh shee fun bowl was the better one, as the salty minced meat flavoured the bland soup quite well. As you can imagine, the one without minced meat is quite bland. Weng Soon Jaya Restaurant is your average, Chinese kopitiam with the seating capacity of about 60 people, and most of them patronises the soup stall. However, since the stall was closed on that day, the rest of the other stalls were making brisk business. The prawn meehoon mee that I ordered took about 10 minutes to come, when usually it was pretty quick service. The prawn noodles here is actually not too bad. However, the mee hoon in my prawn noodles were slightly overcooked, making the dish slightly stodgy, but I guess it's still OK. The soup is very much flavoured in pork bone and shrimp shells, sweet and spicy at the same time. Some tiny prawns, sliced pork and half a hard boiled egg, together with loads of kangkung and beansprouts completes the ensemble. Definitely well worth it with the price of RM4.50.

The shop selling chicken rice seems to be having a good, steady stream of customers, hence I decided to order that. I chose the BBQ pork and roast chicken drumstick with rice, and the food came almost immediately. Definitely very efficient. I thought the BBQ pork was a bit dry as there weren't any bits of fat in it. The roast chicken was nice, with the crunchy skin and juicy, tender chicken. There were lots of spring onion on top as garnishing, which I flicked away as I do not like them. The sou

Most flavoursome and piping hot, the chicken rice costed me RM5. Quite worth it.

Managed by a pair of affable couple, the char koay teow in Weng Soon Jaya Restaurant is quite delicious. Full of wok hei, but not charred, the char koay teow is full of ingredients. There were some sliced Chinese sausages, which was a bit hard but still OK, some medium-sized juicy prawns, some eggs and plenty of of cockles hidden in the noodles. The noodles itself was well fried and not lumpy. Priced at RM4.50 a plate, it was a decent price for lunch.

Went to Weng Soon Jaya Restaurant in anticipation to have lotus root soup with rice the other day with a couple of colleagues. This is similar with the normal pan mee soup. The difference is that the shape is oval instead of noodle style. The texture quite chewy and a bit too thick for me. Is like eating the korean 年糕. Is quite bland eating the noodle itself, luckily the crispy anchovies is quite salty to mix well with it. Adding some chilli sauce given into the noodle increase much tasty too. Remember to pour a few scoop of soup into the bowl, if not it will be too dry.

Kolok Mee is from Sarawak, some call it sarawak noodle. It serves dry and with a bowl of clear soup. It comes with lots of minced meat and slices of fish paste. There are 3 fish balls and some seaweed in the soup. I always wonder why the noodle without any black sauce also can be tasty. The noodle is very smooth and texture is good to munch, just a bit over oily. I quite like the chilli paste given which is sourish and mix well with my noodle.

Pan Mee Soup comes in a huge bowl that i thought i accidentally order for large portion. However, they really serve this much for a small size that cost only RM4.50. The noodle is quite thin and very smooth. Noodle texture is very bouncy, good for those who like to eat chewy noodle. It comes with generous sliced of mushroom, fried anchovies, minced meat and leafy. I like the super crispy anchovies, they are huge and taste good except being bit too salty.

Today my friend brought me to Weng Soon Hawker stall for lunch. She told me here is very crowded because of a pork rice stall. But unfortunately, the stall is close today!! So disappointed but we still decided to eat here since we already park the car. I order the teh ice for my drink. It looks dilute when is serve but surprisingly the taste is still good. Teh aroma quite strong and i like it because is smooth to drink. Best is just cost RM1.80

My colleague opted for the lotus root soup. It has almost the same ingredients like the pepper pig intestine soup. There was chicken feet and lots of three layer pork meat. There were also slices of lotus root together with peanuts. The soup is well-boiled, and not salty at all. The ingredients were superb, especially when dipped with some soya sauce. Definitely recommended.

I was told by my colleague that Weng Soon Jaya Restaurant serves a really good pepper pig intestine soup. On one of the not-so-hot days, we went there to have some. When we arrived, there was already a long queue waiting. Wow, the soup must be real good to have these sort of business. It is self-service as the people manning the stall will not have time to deliver the food to you. The soup is full of pepper taste, while the pig intestine is tender.
