(中英雙語,Chinese and English review)
Asum laksa is always one of my favourite noddles, some people don’t like it becos of the fishy taste, this is my first ever to try fried style asum laksa.

Before I eat it I’m afraid of the flavour will changed a lot, as the flavour should come from the fish broth, but now they fried it, how they gonna remain that?

So I try and is exactly just a no soup version of asum laksa, is amazing! The flavour is great, have all the shrimp paste, fish, herbs and acid in there. Chewy soft noodles, the only thing is I want another plate!

This maybe better for people who afraid of fishy, cos fried version fishy flavour is lower.

(Google translate)

Dad felt like eating Fried Hokkien Mee after a whole afternoon of shopping. It was raining too so a plateful of hot fried Hokkien Mee seems to do the trick, dad thought! We were feeling hungry due to early brunch in Klang at 11.30 am.

So I was in the car googling where to have this Hokkien Mee nearby in Kota Kemuning which has less jam compared to PJ area and voila, I found Taima Hokkien Mee at Bukit Rimau. When we reached there, at 5.31 pm, there was no dinner crowd yet and only had 1 table.

All the food here is quite cheap as it only costs RM 36 for all the 4 noodles and 1 pot of chrysanthemum tea!

Fried Hokkien Mee

This is by far, the only food item I find that is the best! I regretted not ordering more of the same thing! It was incredible! Fragrant from a lot of fried pork fats, tasty and strong in taste. In fact, it has changed my perception of Fried Tai Lok Mee as I previously hated this type of noodles! Fancy doing that to me!

Cantonese Hor Fun

The sauce is thick with egg.Loh Tai Lok Mee

This is thick but not as good as the one at Ulu Yam Loh Mee which has the noodles swimming inside the dark sauce.

Fried Sinchow Mai Fan (Singapore Fried Bihun)

I wonder how you call this SG Fried Bihun when the noodles are overly soggy and cooked with too much water? There is lack of vegetables and only had cheap white cabbage and some greens and pork meat. I had only 1 spoon and done, NO MORE! This is how terrible it is! My mother's fried bihun is 10 times better!

For those of you who have never been, this restaurant is located in Subang Jaya, Seksyen 14 not too far away from the famous Taylors College and Metropolitan College. The dry asam laksa comes with the normal laksa ingredients one can find in a soup asam laksa, i.e. onions, pineapples, cucumbers, peppermint leaves and of course the laksa noodles (lai fun).

In our opinion, it was quite special. The stir fry method makes the noodles more fragrant with the taste of prawn paste. We all love the fry laksa despite the lacking of one of the main ingredient, the fish chunks. We tried their other options on the menu as well, stir fry mee jawa and popiah. The mee jawa was quite good as well, but the popiah was a let-down. The popiah skin was so soggy, and the filling wasn’t fragrant enough. We can find better popiahs at our regular night market.

Just a hint though, the portion was pretty small. Not a viable option to share among friends unless you aren’t a stir fry food lover like myself!

The restaurant is really tidy and clean. The staffs here is friendly and they always greet you with a smile. Well Cook Gourmet also served really good hawker food . This halal Chinese restaurant is like a food court , offering up to 32 dishes .

The moment of truth! I was getting really impatient for the food to come to our table. This was just awesome! I've never eaten something like this before. It tastes like laksa but just has a new texture to it. Highly recommended for asam laksa lovers out there!

I have visited this restaurant many times and apart from their famous Fried Laksa, the Mee Hailam is also very good. The balance of ingredients and the quality of the ingredients used are very fresh. The Mee Hailam is served with sambal belacan and it is this special ingredient when added to the dish makes it super tasty and spicy.Eating this dish makes me recall my childhood days in Ipoh where my grandmother used to make this dish only on special occasions like Chinese New Year, birthdays, etc.

The whole dish has a really rich wok hei. It taste more like fried kuey teow on the first bite, but when you squeeze some lime and eat with pink bunga kantan together, the whole asam laksa flavour come about together. I like the crunchy vegetables on top, with the succulent and fresh prawns. Highly recommended dish. Must try!

I like the lai fun which is moist and sourish. Luckily it's just little spicy. A very unique dish and i will definitely come back again.

Popiah @ RM5.60
This is more similar to Penang Popiah because the texture of turnips are moist compared to the KL popiah which usually taste very dry. Generous amount of cooked turnips with its broth are wrapped together with cucumber strips and dry bean curd, on the thin slice of pancake skin. The flavourful broth's turnip will just melted in my mouth, tasted very delicious.

We also tried the Cantonese Style Hor Fun or wat tan hor. While it looked okay from the outside, one mouthful was enough to confirm the lack of flavour and overall flatness of the dish. Maybe it was just an off day, but we found this completely unsatisfying. The sauce was quite bland, and the rest of the chicken and prawns didn't help much with the flavour. Our advise is to give this a miss when you're here.

Oh but all is well when the Fried Laksa (RM 6) arrives, piping hot!

The whole thing seems so simple, we wonder why no one thought of it before. After all, we seem to make a dry or soup version out of every kind of noodle, how come no one ever thought of making dry stir-fried assam laksa? It looks a bit like char kuey teow, but the rest is unmistakeably like assam laksa because of the tangy-ness in the noodles, possibly from tamarind, and the use of lots of fresh onions, cucumber and the common assam laksa ingredient, bunga kantan, as garnishing.

Well fried together with some egg and prawn (if you're an assam laksa purist, no, there's no fish chunks in here, possibly the only assam laksa key ingredient missing) with oodles of that smoky wok flavour we all love enveloping each strand of noodle, and we guarantee this will be gulped down to the last mouthful, no matter if you're a big eater or small!

Serving is small-ish with only 2 medium sized prawns. Each plate is priced at RM6 if i recall correctly. All in all, it's yummy and different! Worth a try

Besides fried laksa, they serve other noodles and i THINK claypot dishes are their specialty.
