Yet another Japanese exploration at Watami Japanese Casual Restaurant. This time we wish to visit its second outlet in Petaling Jaya, after feeling satisfied with its Japanese Cuisine at its first outlet in Pavillion. Since it is strategically located at one of the huge mall in PJ, that is One Utama, am pretty sure its quality shall remain, if not better As it is quite crowded especially during the weekend where you can see throngs of people hanging out with families and friends, it is recommen

As it is quite crowded especially during the weekend where you can see throngs of people hanging out with families and friends, it is recommended to either arrive there earlier or make prior reservations to avoid being in a long queue

Without further ado, let's begin out feast! ^^

Despite passing by this restaurant for so many times after its grand opening, my bf and I never set foot in it Watami until yesterday. We were seated immediately as soon as we made our intentions clear that we would be dining in. Bf ordered the Chicken Katsu Tomago Toji. Unlike any other chicken katsu served in other Japanese restaurants, this one didn't come with rice. Rice had to be ordered separately.

The egg was given separately and it's only poured into the broth when it was boiled using the portable stove.

Broth tasted salty to me but it was delicious to the bf. I probably won't order this in the next visit as I do not like any fried items to be soaked in broth and become soggy.

My Wafu pizza! It's a pizza topped with teriyaki chicken and sauce. Very crispy and thin slice of pizza which I could finish it on my own

Oh did I mention that the service here is superb? I think each waiter/waitress bowed to us before they spoke to us or brought us our orders.

Bill came up to ~RM77 for 2 persons.

Not new to usual Okonomiyaki but this definitely something different. There are mochi at the bottom instead the usual batter. I can be better with more sauce

Overall this is quite nice dinner for me. Something new to try instead of the usual thing we see everywhere. I think the price was a bit high for the food served. The service was a plus as they are always alert for customer and always mumble some Japanese before and after giving or taking something from the table.

The main reason my colleagues and I would casually head to Watami for lunches because KPMGians entitle to "Buy three sets free one set" privilege. The set comes with free green tea, free salad, and free soup. This beef pepper rice was served in hot stone. The amount of meat looked pretty generous and pinkish (which also means juicy and yummy!). I managed to steal alittle from him and it was pretty good I would say. Need not to say, the rice hidden under the topping was equally filling too!

As for me, I shared chicken katsu with another colleague. I like the way they serve you the egg : they give you egg and you pour it onto the chicken katsu the way you like. Then you can enjoy staring at the egg being cooked in the hot stone, which is being heated at the same time by the mini gas stove.

The portion of chicken katsu was so huge that I would feel full after I was done with half of it. The sauce soaking up the chicken katsu was sweet and savory at the same time, which I find it pretty delectable.

Nevertheless, my lunch could easily come up to RM20, if I were to take a whole set on my own. Therefore, I would say it is pretty expensive.
