Freshly stuffed, then deep-fried or boiled, the pieces of Yong Tau Foo at Wai kee screamed of utmost freshness and good, home made quality. Braised with the brown bean paste (tauchu paste) for the best combination; bringing out the flavour of the stuffed fish paste.

Although I not very fond of it but I do ensure to make it a part of my diet for its health values. I think the only time I probably enjoy eating it if it cooked stuffed with the fish paste, just like the yong tau foo. Wai Kee's stuffed brinjal always tops in my list as it's really value for money. Big cuts of brinjal is stuffed overflowing with the smooth fish paste. Hakka style cooked in the brown bean paste or tauchu really brings out the flavour. It is really good and pretty much the same as the way my mom cooks it. I usually 'tau pau' or packed the yong tau foo back for dinner and eat these with rice during my lazy weekends when I refused to cook.

What I like about the Wai Kee's yong tau foo is that the serving is extra large. Real value for money. The rectangle shape tau foo is stuffed with fish paste and cooked in bean paste for added flavour. Pure Hakka-style, made just like how my mum would do it. And it goes well with the hot steaming white rice especially with the bean paste (meen shee) sauce. Healthy and truly nutritious ... I enjoy eating this stuffed tau foo all the time.

The Fried Foo Chok was very oily, I'd recommend for you guys to soak up the excess oil with a paper towel before eating it. Nevertheless, tastewise, it was meaty and flavorful. The serving is quite generous (4 inch in length) as well and the foo chok skin is crispy too.For only RM 1.20 per piece, it is indeed value for money!

The brinjal is very huge in terms of its size. It's gigantic and the stuffed fishcake in between was so much that it was almost overflowing out of the brinjal itself. For this, the fishcake was quite bouncy unlike the Tau Foo. Moreover, it had that homemade feel to it and tastewise, it is pretty good. Not too salty or bland.

The tofu was stuffed with fish meat filling. It was usually very bouncy but today it was very soft. I predict that the fish wasn't of good quality today therefore the meat crumbles the moment i bite into it. The sauce was a little bland today as well but it's alright if you pour some sauce on your rice.In terms of serving size, it is definitely value for money at only RM 1.20 per piece.

Favorite place to eat at since it is very close to my house often went there for dinner as afternoon its very hot... their food was really good and at a reasonable price ~~~ you do not have to worry about the parking cause you can park at tesco and just walk over... very near ~~ however, the tables are quite limited, usually we have to dine at roadside rather than the shop itself ~~

10 pieces of assorted Yong Tau Foo

We ordered 10 pieces of Yong Tau Foo which consisted of chilli, brinjal, "foo chuk", bittergourd & "taufu pok". The fish paste portion given in each piece of stuffed Yong Tau Foo were generous because the Yong Tau Foos were fully stuffed with tasty fish paste and the fish paste were slightly springy. The Yong Tau Foos are served on a plate of light soy sauce. Each piece of the yong tau foo is RM 1.00.

Stuffed chilli, bittergourd and taufu pok.
My favourite is the bittergourd because the bitter gourd's bitter taste is so good with the fish paste.

P/S: Please be there early or you will have to wait for a while before being getting a table as the place is especially packed during lunch hours and also prepare to wait for your food to arrive. We waited for about 20 minutes for the food to arrive.

Ginger Wine Chicken (RM22.00)
As a person who love dishes with wine, I really liked this dish because it came withgenerous amount of wine. I drank all the soup because it is good to drink on its own. The ginger wine chicken also came with large amount of julienned ginger, wolfberries and fried omelette. Thumbs up...

The meaty chicken in the wine soup is tender, juicy and rich in wine taste. After consuming this dish, my face actually became sligthly red and hot.....lol...........
