Hubby and I favour their Hakka noodles very much. The noodles are cooked to perfection, al dente, just the way I like it. The portion is also good enough for me, although hubby would need the larger version. The bowl is filled to the brim with minced pork and pork lard. Not too salty, just flavourful enough and the noodles are not too dry. Garnished with some spring onions, the dish is simply amazing. Definitely recommended!

Tucked in an unassuming neighbourhood is a coffee shop that serves really good food. Minutes away from SS2 Mall, they are famous for their roast pork aka char siew. Although the parking there is horrendous, it is worth a visit. Their char siew, half fat, half lean is one of the best I have ever had. The skin glistens with honey, while the meat simply melts in the mouth. They serve the sauce separately, so you can dip at your own preference. Served with a few slices of cucumber, this is definitel

We ordered a small beansprout portion for sharing. I would always love to add on this bean sprout when I have my chicken rice or char siew rice. These bean sprouts were fat and juicy in texture. It was fresh and very crispy. Together with the spring onions, it was very fragrant. The soy sauce at the bottom of the plate added some oil and saltiness to it. I would recommend everyone to add on this dish.

Toast & Roast is a restaurant located at SS2. I am introduced to this restaurant by my dear friend of mine who swear that they serves the best Char Siew that she ever had. So we went to this restaurant in the weekend to try and see. I ordered a mixture of Char Siew (BBQ Pork) and Siu Yok (Roast Pork) to share with my friend. The portion is quite small compare to the price we pay for which is RM24 a plate. The Char Siew turns out to be very juicy and delicious with lots of fat cut. The Siu Yok is

Besides delicious Char Siew, we also order some Fried Sui Kao (dumpling) to eat. Unlike normal Sui Kao, which is only stuffed meat, this Fried Sui Kao stuffed with black fungus, minced pork and prawn. At RM1 per piece, this is really worth the price. I couldn’t stop eating it as it is really crunchy outside and so full of flavour outside.

The mee is so thin that can easy swallow by anybody; like a fish swimming freely in the sea. The char siew is made of fat and non-fat meat that combined perfectly; like a pair of chopstick. Once i chewed it, i said "wow" and yummy. The vegetables on the mee made the color of the food perfectly matched too.

I would have never thought of coming here if it wasn't for the wonder of food blogs. Seen this mentioned a couple of times and everyone's been waxing lyrical over the char siew. My sister was visiting from Oz last week and I thought we'd finally check this place out. Of course, we'd have to order a plate of Char Siew to share. This was medium and I wished we'd ordered more. Of course, we'd have to order a plate of Char Siew to share. This was medium and I wished we'd ordered more. Visual appealing, the meat was glistening (from the maltose, I gathered) and came with perfect ratio of meat:fat. Perfectly roasted, they were tender with a balance of sweet and savoury, the fat just dissolves into sweet heaven in your mouth. Definitely met our expectations.

I have been curious to try Hakka Mee, as it's not too dissimilar to our very own Kolo Mee/Kampua Mee. The noodles resembles Mee Pok but slightly thinner, and was cooked al dente. There was a distinct pork lard (oil) flavour, which goes well with a little bit of vinegar. The lovely surprise was the crispy pork lard like those you get in KL style Hokkien Mee, which enhanced the overall experience. Loved it and can't wait to have more soon!

My sister has ordered Siew Yoke with Rice and I stole a few pieces of her roast pork. It was just ok, as I've definitely had better. The crackling was perfect though, however I felt that the fat wasn't rendered enough and the mouthfeel was a little sticky. It was seasoned well though.

Service was friendly and attentive, and food was served pretty quickly. Great recommendation!

Hakka Mee. The dish was served with minced pork meat and pork lard topped with spring onions. The pork lards were crispy and oh so fattening. The seasoning was just right, slightly garlicky and peppery with additional pepper. The hakka mee was bouncy in texture, thin and soft. It was cooked to al-dente. The minced pork was tender and moist. The dish was slightly salty.

Char Siew (Roast caramelized pork). The char siew was dark brown with slight burnt at the side. The charred caramelized side was crunchy and it was aromatic. The meat was a mixture of fat and lean, well-balanced texture. The fork-tender char siew has melt-in-mouth kind of texture. It was that soft and moist! Each piece of char siew was coated with a layer of marinate that made it sweet. A sinfully delicious dish.

Roast Pork. The roast pork was cut quite roughly. This skin of the roast pork was only a little bit crunchy and slightly chewy. It also has some gamey feeling to it. The fat and lean was well balanced. Despite that, the meat was not fork-tender, slightly tough and chewable. It has the right amount of saltiness. The pork has not “porky” taste though. It was just a so-so roast pork dish.

There are plenty of char siew in the market but not all are good. My personal preference for char siew is the type that in both sweet and savory, moistened, not too fatty and smooth texture. Toast and Roast has char siew that fulfills all of the above but the "not too fatty" criterion. Every bite into the char siew was utterly sinful. The moment you try to exert pressure on the char siew, it just fell apart and "melted" in your mouth. Warn ya, it is super fat but it is good!

The beauty of Hakka noodle is the absence of black soy sauce. Sometimes I feel like omitting my black soy sauce from my diet because it is said to darken the scars. Hakka noodle will come in handy. You could either choose minced pork or char siew as your topping but I would recommend you to try their char siew.

I've always been a fan of char siew; and unlike most people, I like mine lean. I never liked the bouncy fat on my char siew. However, when I tried the half-fat-half-lean char siew at this restaurant (almost forcefully), I fell in love (or maybe it was lust?).The char siew texture and sensations resembled that of eating a moist chocolate cake, except it tasted like glorious pork - sweet, extremely savoury, and melty. The char siew texture and sensations resembled that of eating a moist chocolate cake, except it tasted like glorious pork - sweet, extremely savoury, and melty. Too overpoweringly flavourful to consume on its own, I find that it goes extremely well with their milder hakka noodles, which is served with fish flakes (to give it a nice aroma) and your choice of either char siew or minced pork (I would go for the char siew).

Wash it all down with sour plum lime juice (which is done quite well here - thick and intense with sweetness and sourness).

Best time to drop by is between 11am and 12.30pm - any later and they might run out of the lovely toasted and roasted char siew.
