Signature Dishes
We had our family gathering last night at this restaurant. I was a little surprised as to how much it has changed from a typical Chinese restaurant into a bistro/pub with a space for informal dining. Anyway, the food was still good and I was told that there is no change to the chef(s). The only difference is that there are no more waitresses, only foreign waiters who are not very adapt at recommending dishes to customers. As a customer, I would prefer a local captain who knows the local cuisine to give recommendations plus advise on portion size when ordering food.

Claypot beancurd. The beancurd came in a boiling hot pot and it also consisted Chinese cabbage and peas. It was quite a big portion I could say. The tofu was quite solid but soft in texture. It was smooth too. The gravy was a lot and it tasted nice. The Chinese cabbage gave a crunchy texture to it. Overall, it was not too sweet and not too salty and everyone liked this dish.

A pleasant family restaurant with a wide variety of well-cooked dishes that would satisfy everyone from Grandpa to Baby Nephew. A decent BBQ combo of herbal roast duck, siew yoke and char siew. Magic Wok's signature "yuen tai." Succulent pork encased in a shimmering layer of fatty skin. Absolutely delicious, but not the healthiest item on the menu. Pan-fried pork ribs drenched in a glorious sweet sauce. Finger-lickin' good. I could happily have eaten a dozen of these. Lotus root with macadamia nuts. Fresh, crunchy and well-prepared.
