Went to The Han Room to have lunch and this is the first time to try out their food. We ordered pork meat with chilled sweet & sour sauce for our appetizer. And yeah it is chilled pork meat and it looks like kebab stick with green and yellow lantern pepper stuck in a bowl of ice. The taste is freezing cold and I hardly can taste any thing the sauce taste is not thick. Will not order this again but is an interesting dish. For dessert we order Chilled Mango Cream with Pomelo, Sago &ice cream this is superb! The mango cream texture is soft and it taste so fresh just like eating fresh mango feel. Besides the combination makes the dessert so delightful to finish it and felt refreshing after eating it.

The "suet san" (snowy mountain) char siew pau was a unique dish created by the chef. From afar, it looked a normal char siew pau, but when close up, it has a coarser outer layer. The skin was slightly crispy with a tinge of sweetness to it. Inner layer was soft. The fillings were exactly like a normal char siew pau fillings, minced pork and some fats. It was tender, soft and slightly salty. The whole combination was a very new experience of taste, love it!

Rice with mushrooms and pine nuts
A claypot rice cooked with mushrooms and pine nuts in dark sauce. The rice was not wet and it is enough dry inside the claypot. For those rice sticked in the bottom part, that's the greatest part to eat as it was crispy!!!

Durian Pudding. The pudding was served in transparent small pot. The presentation of this dish was superb whereby the smoke from dry ice surrounding the pot. The durian pudding was slightly coarse in texture. It smelled of durian but when I ate it, the durian flavour was not strong in the mouth. The pudding was soft and sweet and slightly bitter. It was a so-so dessert.

Mango pudding. The pudding was served in a shape of a flower mould, topped with a piece of mango and surrounded by mango puree. The bottom has a thin layer of grass jelly. The mango pudding was strong in mango flavour, together with the mango puree, it was mango madness. The pudding was smooth, bouncy and sweet. The mango cube was fresh. It was a very nice dessert.

Crispy Cod Fish Roll with Chicken Floss. Two pieces of crispy cod fish was served with romaine lettuce in between. The cod fish roll was covered with mayonnaise and topped with chicken floss. The batter covering the cod fish was deep fried to crispiness. The cod fish was smooth, succulent and fresh. The mayonnaise added some sweetness to the dish. Eaten together as a whole, it was an unique flavour indeed, nicely done.

Stir-fried Carrot Cake
It was pan fried raddish cake. With a combinations of some small slices of chilies, eggs, beansprout and the raddish cakes. It would tastes even better if they add somemore black pepper while pan-frying the raddish cake. It tasted really nice too now and they provide some sweet sauce to dip with too.

Char Siew Cheong Fun
The regular Hong Kong style cheong fun with char siew (BBQ Pork). The chee cheong fun is very smooth and is not so thick. I prefer thin layer of chee cheong fun as it tastes more delicious compared to the thick one as it tasted more smooth and "slippery".

Steamed Chicken Claw
Just like others dim sum we consumed in other restaurant, this chicken claw are steamed with red sauce which is a bit sweet and salty. I love this much more than others as they did not put the black beans inside which I hate the most. The chicken claw was not small pieces too.

According to its hompage, "The Han Room at The Gardens Mall, opened in January 2011, showcases the finest and latest dishes inspired by Chinese Cuisine History with influences of current Global trends and flavours."

My first visit with a group of friends during Chinese New Year. I have read about the review of the restaurant which turned out not to my expectation.

One of the dishes that I took was the "Lap Mei Farn" (Waxed Meat Rice). The rice was served in a claypot and the ingredients were put separately in a plate. My first time seeing this wonderful and supposedly a delicious with good aroma dish served that way, my rating to this dish on the cooking and presentation has gone down. On the plate there were the waxed Chinese sausages (lap cheong), waxed duck, waxed liver sausages and vegetables. The taste was definitely affected by the way it was presented, in short, taste was not there as the rice and the ingredients were all not placed in the claypot. True enough, none of us enjoyed the dish. My first visit really turned me off to return to this restaurant. Further, the ambience is not what it was stated by the reviewers.
