Claypot bean curd, or tauhu oon, as it was called in the menu, looks rather appetising. We decided to order a small portion costing RM8. It was quite a big serve. They used the Japanese tau foo, fried till golden brown before being tossed in brown sauce together with sweet peas, slices of carrots and mushrooms, served in a small metal wok. The ensemble was very nice, and goes very well together with white rice. Definitely recommended!

I wanted to have some kang kung as my vegetable of the day. I was contemplating between the belacan fried kang kung or the deep fried kang kung salad. The waiter recommended us to try the lala, as he mentioned that they were quite fresh. We agreed, and decided to order it kam heong style. We were not disappointed, as the lala was really fresh. Each morsel was covered with the kam heong sauce, and the meat was still intact in the shell. Slightly salty, with just enough spice, it goes very well with white rice. Priced at RM10 for a small portion, it was definitely well worth the amount paid.

The Thai Prawn Cakes looked quite appealing from the menu, hence we decided to order that. It was definitely a good choice, as the prawn cakes were loaded with ingredients. The prawn taste was very apparent, and it was fried till golden perfection. There were some onions and spices in it as well. Juicy and succulent, it made a very good complement to the meal. I can even have it without rice, accompaniment by some beer. Priced at RM15 for a small order, it was definitely well worth the amount pa

Pandan chicken was basically my staple food when I was growing up. Mum and dad likes to eat Thai food, but us kids, we were not yet attuned to the level of spiciness required, hence we only got to eat pandan chicken. The dish in Thai Nyonya was very nice. The chicken is well marinated before being wrapped in pandan leaves and cooked. Tender and juicy, the pandan chicken was definitely the highlight of my meal. Priced at RM12 for a small serving, it was definitely well worth the amount paid.

After finishing our main meal, we took the menu and decided to order dessert. We were planning to stay a bit longer as the environment was quite nice, especially with a tv which was putting on Thai karaoke songs. However, the waiter said that they have sold out. He was extremely apologetic, and gave us his name card and told us to call him in the afternoon if we decide to come for dinner, and he will reserve the dessert for us. On top of that, he gave us a plate of Thai mango as compensation. The mango was really nice, sweet and well chilled. Talk about good customer-service! I will definitely come again, this time I will pre-order my dessert.

We knew we wanted to order dessert, hence as drinks, we ordered the pandan water costing 50 cents each. They came in a metal cup, something that I have never seen in a long time. The drink came crisply cold, and it was very fragrant, full of pandan taste. It was well chilled in the fridge. I thought it was quite a small cup. However, before I could order another cup, the friendly waiter came by to refill my cup. Pleasantly surprised, I downed the cup and asked for another. It was really thirst-q

I was hankering for some fried soft shell crab, however, to my disappointment, they have run out of soft shell crab. The affable waiter looked genuinely sorry, so we decided to order the deep-fried squid with garlic instead. It proved to be a great choice. The squid was perfectly fried till golden brown, and there were loads of fried garlic as topping. Both were equally crunchy, not too salty, perfect complement to our rice. Priced at RM15, it was definitely well worth the amount paid.

We wanted something green, and the waiter recommended us the stir-fried kai lan with salted fish. Since we didn't want anything spicy, we agreed. The kai lan was fried full of wok hei, and it was definitely very fresh, crunchy to the last bite. There were some salted fish in it, though I thought it was too coarsely chopped, but it was still OK. Priced at RM10, it was quite well worth the amount paid.

Checking my letter box, I found a paper advertisement about Thai Nyonya Restaurant located in Ara Damansara. There were also some Thai decorations in the shop, which lent a good ambience. We ordered, and the food was quite slow to come, probably because there were a big group of people who came just before us. The first to arrive was the Thai Style Fried Petai. There were a generous amount of halved petai, together with some big-sized prawns. There were also loads of sweet onions as well. It wasn't extremely spicy, so wifey enjoyed it very much. Priced at RM15, it was a decent amount to pay.

The waiters here are very friendly. We are given a choice to pick tilapia fish or siakap fish for the set meal. We chosen the siakap and it doesn't fail us. The fish is so smooth and soft. Eating it with the thai lemon juice is really delicious. Beware of the chilli padi as is really super duper spicy. I'm not fond of garlic, my friend say the garlic is the best as it soaked all the juice taste. This dish really opened up my appetite and i finish my bowl of rice easily.

Although the set lunch is for 4 pax, the pandan chicken comes with 5 pieces. There are also salads at the side for refreshing after the heaty chicken. The pandan chicken is well marinated and grilled. The aroma is so strong that i can smell it while removing the pandan leaves. The chicken is very tender together with some sweetness. First time eating a pandan chicken with the whole chicken meat instead of chicken patty.
