This is another soup base for you to choose if you want something different from the usual tom yam or chicken soup. The texture is not too thick nor thin, just nice to go with your usual steamboat ingredients. I prefer the porridge to be less thicker as space is still left in the stomach for non-carbs items. It was minimally seasoned, which is good actually because the steamboat ingredients are mostly having salt content already. You will have to control the fire well in order to prevent it from

In our case, our porridge was cooked quite well, slightly burnt towards the end of our meal.

The type of soup/broth offered by a steamboat restaurant is very important as it is the basic thing for customers to begin with, hence the first impression. Here in Tai Tou (one of the most famous steamboat places in Kepong), they serve pretty good soup base. The tom yam soup has adequate flavour from the spices, I still can taste some remaining bits of spices in the soup. By the time the ingredients are cooked together, the soup tasted even better.

Clear soup is essentially made from pork/chicken bones or anchovies and other secret ingredients. The soup tasted very ching (light for the tummy), sweet and well seasoned. Thankfully, less MSG as well. I did not feel thirsty after the meal.

While waiting for your steamboat ingredients to be cooked, you can order some snacks or light food to ease your hunger. The chicken wings here were deep fried rather than grilled. They taste decent to me as the marinade and seasonings were adequate. The skin is crispy, which is quite enjoyable. The only complaint here is the chicken wings' size can be bigger to have more juicy taste

We ordered 2 sets for 2 pax. The plates contained various varieties of fish balls, squid balls, pork balls, fu chuk, prawns, lettuce, fish fillet and quill eggs. The small fish fillets and prawns were fresh and sweet, no fishy taste at all. The fish balls were smooth and bouncy. The pork balls were slight rough texture, slightly salty. The squid balls were stringy. The set also included meehoon, yee mee and eggs. The green is the Thai chilli while the red is normal chilli. The green chilli has m

The green is the Thai chilli while the red is normal chilli. The green chilli has minty flavour and spicy. The red chilli has garlic flavour and it was extremely spicy.

2-style soup: tomyam and clear. The tomyam was not so good, it tasted like spicy tomato soup, which was weird. The clear soup however was sweet.
