My dear hubby thinks we should be having chinese food for dinner since it's winter solstice. I tried Taang Sifu @ Publika and was not at all pleased nor impressed. So, when we were cheerfully greeted by the Taang Sifu outlet at Paradigm Mall, I had my my reservation about going in. Anyway, my dearest hubby haven't tasted it and said it was recommended by his colleague. So I obliged.

We ordered Rice Wine Chicken with Black Fungus with additional bowl of rice, Dried Mee Sua set, Stir-fried french beans with puer tea leaves and for dessert osmanthus jelly with pineapple.

The most dissapointing was the dessert. The jelly was almost tasteless and hard without any tinge of osmanthus fragrance (which is heavenly!)

The chicken was swimming in the Rice Wine Chicken with Black Fungus and the wine is too strong for my liking. The smell of alcohol vapourising was not pleasant. There were only shreds of fungus. Would be good if added with some mushrooms or gei zhi.

Dried Mee Sua set and stir-fried french beans with puer tea leaves were the star of the savior of the dinner. The set came with black beans and stew pork and a pot of herbal chicken soup...yummy! Taste great. Thumbs up! and befits the winter solstice celebration. Mee suah is traditionally eaten for good tidings and longevity.

I've always wanted to try dishes cooked with tea leaves. The french beans was stir fried to perfection and still crunchy. Another thumbs up!

I ordered this seafood in herbal soup. The portion can feed two person but it was too good for sharing, i had it all by myself. Inside the soup were lots of good stuffs, for example, fish maw, scallops, dried scallop, abalone slices, white fungus and chicken drumstick. The soup has a thicker consistency, slightly gluey. The soup was very flavorful, and i think some chinese white wine was added into the soup for the extra taste and flavors. Love the brown rice too. The brown rice was nice to eat

Love the brown rice too. The brown rice was nice to eat and doesn't have funny weird taste like other brown rice.

The Seafood Hot Pot took quite some time to arrive, but when it did, it looked grand.

The Hot Pot consists of a huge variety of seafood and other ingredients such as brocolli, fish maw, abalone, mushroom, yam, top shell slices, scallop, stew pork, cabbage and goose web.

Of course, there is rice to be served along with this dish. The gravy was aromatic, however I find it a little bland for my liking. It has a nice flavour to it, but it seemed like it is short of salt. Perhaps this is the healthy food that they are promoting.

All in all, RM180 for 2 persons including drinks and rice is quite expensive for a meal, although the ingredients used are expensive.

Since the opening of Paradigm Mall, I have already seen Taang Shifu there but yet to try. Now I manage to go there for a simple lunch, and I find that the portion here is rather small for me.I have a bowl of Dried scallop and abalone mixed rice which is full of sweetness from the premium seafood ingredients. The soup is very light and aromatic, full of goodness from the chinese condiments. I love the chewy dried scallop and abalone, but it is rather too watery for me. Anyway the taste is not too

Anyway the taste is not too salty, suits my taste. Delicious.
