Wifey ordered the dong guai stewed pork with white rice. We thought that it would be served separately, however, the white rice was drenched in the watery stewed pork. The pork was lean, and it was a bit dry. There were some dong guai taste, but overall it was quite bland too. Some pieces of black fungus was used in the stew as well. Perhaps wifey and I are most used to saltier food, hence we were not impressed by the taste here. continue reading

"Ge Gen" Heat Reducing Tea. I have always ordered the aloe vera juice when I visit this restaurant as it was really nice. That night, I chose to try something different and the picture of this drink was enlarged at the menu. It came in a jug and enough for 3-4 pax. The two of us find it hard to finish the whole jug. It came with some ice that made it cool to drink. Tasted like sour plum juice and thick. Very good. continue reading

Hubby and I decided to splurge on this meal, as the Seafood Hot Pot looked extremely delicious. However, it doesn't come cheap as it costs approximately RM180 for the dish. Still, once in a lifetime to try. The portion was quite big, and they gave two each for everything. The best part of the dish is the two medium-sized abalone. There were also scallops, goose web, brocolli, mushroom, stewed pork, lots of cabbage, fish maw and yam at the very bottom of the pot. I thought the gravy was under-salted, hence needed to request some soya sauce to go with it. Good to have with a bowl of rice. continue reading

continue reading

The rainy weather has been the push factor in allowing me to check out various eateries of late trying to avoid the infamous traffic jam in the klang valley. Paradgim Mall seems like a good choice with great tenant mix in terms of food, shopping and access. My dear hubby thinks we should be having chinese food for dinner since it's winter solstice. I tried Taang Sifu @ Publika and was not at all pleased nor impressed. So, when we were cheerfully greeted by the Taang Sifu outlet at Paradigm Mall, I had my my reservation about going in. Anyway, my dearest hubby haven't tasted it and said it was recommended by his colleague. So I obliged. We ordered Rice Wine Chicken with Black Fungus with additional bowl of rice, Dried Mee Sua set, Stir-fried french beans with puer tea leaves and for dessert osmanthus jelly with pineapple. The most dissapointing was the dessert. The jelly was almost tasteless and hard without any tinge of osmanthus fragrance (which is heavenly!)The chicken was swimming in the Rice Wine Chicken with Black Fungus and the wine is too strong for my liking. The smell of alcohol vapourising was not pleasant. There were only shreds of fungus. Would be good if added with some mushrooms or gei zhi.Dried Mee Sua set and stir-fried french beans with puer tea leaves were the star of the savior of the dinner. The set came with black beans and stew pork and a pot of herbal chicken soup...yummy! Taste great. Thumbs up! and befits the winter solstice celebration. Mee suah is traditionally eaten for good tidings and longevity.I've always wanted to try dishes cooked with tea leaves. The french beans was stir fried to perfection and still crunchy. Another thumbs up! continue reading
