Favourite lepak spot - mamak!

All time favourite Malaysian lepak spot. Be it breakfast, lunch, dinner or even supper, mamak stall always in my list. But here at Syed Bistro, the enviroment is upgraded to suit people from high class, what with airconditioner room, clean enviroment, fast service and delicious food. My choice of food, of course cheese naan with tandoori chicken match with foamy teh tarik.

Here's one dish that will have you loosening your belt! Syed Bistro's Lamb Shank Bukhara Briyani costs RM24. It's a little pricey but it's sinfully delicious plus the portion is large enough to be shared between two adults. Syed Bistro's Lamb Shank Bukhara Briyani costs RM24. It's a little pricey but it's sinfully delicious plus the portion is large enough to be shared between two adults. I guess that justifies the tag.

The delectable lamb shank is cooked in a thick dark curry gravy. It is a little spicy but this is nothing that most Malaysians can't handle. If you're wondering if the meat is tough to bite into, I can assure you that it isn't. It's cooked just tender enough.

 The briyani rice and pickled side dish goes well with the lamb shank. Hence, I have never been tempted to ask to try it with anything else. I imagine that it would taste good with roti too. Whatever it is, this is one briyani that will wow your taste-buds. I wouldn't stray far from this combination.

 Here's what a takeaway looks like. The briyani rice and curry gravy comes in a neat box while the lamb shank is packed separately in a transparent plastic bag.

 Besides Lamb Shank Bukhara Briyani, Syed Bistro also mans a mango stall at the entrance of their restaurant. These "Indian Sweet Mangoes" are really plump and fresh. I purchased a few to try out.

The verdict? They are just about the juiciest mangoes I have ever had the pleasure of eating! There's no hint of fiber and it's also sweet enough, living up to its name. I am so enamored that I have taken to actively recommend these mangoes to friends and family.

 Syed Bistro is no ordinary nasi kandar restaurant having perfected their signature dishes over the many years they have been in operation. Their curry dishes are drool-worthy enough for you to have a hard time choosing what goes onto your plate.

There is nothing outstanding with their level of service though - it is how a typical nasi kandar restaurant is run, but I have no complaints since they are friendly with us, the customers.

One of the famous Mamak restaurants in Klang Valley is Restoran Syed or also known as Syed Bistro. Their foods are tasty and the price also very reasonable.

 One of their special menu is Nasi Bukhari. It is almost similar like Nasi Briyani but the taste is a bit different as they cooked the rice together with chicken or lamb and mixed it with herbs and spices. The rice texture is soft and you can just eat it alone like that or else you can choose for your rice to be served with other side dishes such as ayam madu, vegetables (dalca), papadom and etc.

 If you are one of the Kari Kepala Ikan (fish head’s curry) fans, I would suggest you to try their fish head’s curry. The taste is almost unexplained. As a curry lover, you will love it because if a non-curry-lover like me also falls head over heels with their curry, imagine what will happens to the curry lover. The fish head is "nalla" which means BIG and the gravy or kuah kari is thick and it was so delicious. The price might be a bit expensive as they follows the market price for the fish but for me it is still affordable because you do not eat fish head curry everyday rite?

Price: Nasi Bukhari - RM12 - RM15 (depend on what you choose as your side dish)
Kari Kepala Ikan - RM25 - RM40 ( depend on market price)
