Tuna Avocado sushi. Since the last time we tried this type of combination, we ordered the sushi again this time. The sushi was topped with a piece of tuna sashimi and a slide of avocado with some white sauce. The inner sushi was filled with cucumber and egg. The whole combination was sweet. The cucumber gave a crunchy texture. The sashimi was soft. I totally enjoyed this sushi.
Tempura and Soba set. Tempura is my favourite item in a Japanese restaurant. That day I felt like drinking hot soup, so I ordered the soba and tempura set, best of both worlds for me. The soup was very clear with just very light seasonings and some flavourings from the seaweed and spring onions too. The soba was not too soft, very smooth. The tempura was deep fried and crispy.
Grilled Salmon Fish Head. After my father tried the salmon fish head in Sushi Tomo, he will order it again whenever he visit this restaurant. He will add on a bowl of white rice to go with it. This grilled salmon fish head was done nicely. The meat was still juicy despite being grilled. It was not too salty and the meat was tender. I would recommend this for those who like fish head.
Rainbow sushi and ramen set. This is one of the best value-for-money set offered by Sushi tomo. It came with a bowl of ramen and rainbow sushi. The rainbow sushi was topped with tuna, salmon sashimi and avocado. The inner parts were cucumber wrapped in seaweed, it was a very good sushi. The ramen in clear soup was very good, although clear but it was very tasty.
Garlic fried rice. The presentation of garlic fried rice was clean, it just a bowl of rice and topped with nicely arranged cucumber and tomato slices. The garlic fried rice was fragrant with garlic. The usage of garlic was not too much until to the extent of jelak. It was just the right amount used. The fried rice was moist, and I prefer a dryer version. It was slightly salty.
California temaki. The california roll came with crab roe, crab stick, cucumber and lettuce. The size was huge as they used a lot of Japanese rice and wrapped in a seaweed. I recommend to it this freshly as if waited for too long, the seaweed will become soggy and not crispy anymore. The overall was sweet and the cucumber was crunchy. The crab roe was sparkly pop in the mouth.
Okonomiyaki. The okonomiyaki was served on a hot plate to preserve the heat. I could say that Sushi Tomo serves one of the best okonomiyaki in town. The batter was not thick and it was just nice, with the edge slightly burnt till crispiness. The ingredients used was prawns and squid that were all fresh and sweet. The bonito flakes added some saltiness to it. I love this very much.
