Lemongrass with Gula Malaka.

I love this beverage a lot as it is very refreshing and not too sweet!

Ala Subak Nusantara Chicken Soto.

The portion is quite huge and the taste is quite yummy.

I didn't expect the portion to be that huge as it can possibly replaces our main course.

It was highly recommended by the restaurant to try this.

It was a good choice and I love it.

Rack of Lamb.

This is HUGE.

Taste wise is good and the smell that I hate the most is at optimal level.

Awesome!

If you have any celebration or proposal, you may take this place into consideration.

I think you can have some special arrangement with the restaurant.

This place is beautiful. A secluded, Balinese resort-style environment _ only a few minutes' drive from Mutiara Damansara _ with genuinely friendly staff. There's only one problem: pesky mosquitoes that come out before dusk. There's a mishmash of Western and Eastern cuisine available, but we focused on the Indonesian offerings that evening. The Javanese-style popiah stuffed with veggies, crabmeat and shrimp wasn't spectacular, but it was still very nicely done. Crispy without any excess oil. Ibu

Ibu Yati's Gado-gado, featuring blanched veggie salad with peanut sauce. Our favourite of the evening. The peanut sauce was soooooooo deliciously good and complemented the salad so well, we could eat this everyday!

Mixed grill of codfish, mussels and scallops. This was excellent; the cod and scallops in particular were wonderfully fresh and moist.

For mains, I tried the Nasi Goreng with Chicken Satay. The presentation was really faultless. The fried rice came in a platter with one prawn, a fried egg, grilled chicken satay (2 sticks) with peanut sauce, and a pickled fruit they told me was longan. The rice were fried without being too oily and tasted full of spices. The satay were grilled nicely with the meat still juicy and moist. It tasted of the smoky grilling flavour but did not overpower the meat which has a mildly sweet taste.

Overall it is still adequate if I discount the prawn. Good enough for ambience this nice.

When you step into the restaurant compound, you are immediately transported into a tranquil setting with a balinese feel. I love their decor and was really excited to try their food. It was more like the flowery version of a teh tarik with the smooth milky texture and a layer of syrup at the bottom. There was just enough ice to chill the drink. A good choice although it cost RM8.

I decided to go for Rendang Serai Daging Tulang Rawan (RM 35) - home-styled beef ribs stew served with steamed with rice and sauteed vegetables. The vegetables, though not a big portion, were very tasty, thanks to a good mix of butter and garlic. I enjoy broccoli, but I really loved this! Sadly, I couldn't say the same for the rendang. Sadly, I couldn't say the same for the rendang. Although the flavour was indeed excellent, it was all for naught no thanks to the meat that was tougher than rock! Seriously it was near impossible to slice through, and even if I could I still gave my jaw a good workout chewing and chewing through the chewy meat. It was really a shame because the rendang sauce was so good, I wish I could have packed it home and mixed it with some rendang bought from some mamak nearby..heh.

Wendy went for Ala Subak Nasi Goreng with Chicken Satay (RM 25). There were 2 sticks of satay which were grilled very well. A shame there wasn't more to for us to savor. The rice was also fried well and had plenty of flavour, but it ranks quite high on my spicy scale. Eating the slightly runny fried egg with the rice resulted in yummy tastes! An interesting addition was cooked pickled longan as a condiment, something not always seen.

Subak's food is meant to be Indonesian-inspired, but there are also western and local dishes on offer. And we both hoped for Subak's sake it wasn't on the menu, because if we were made to pay anywhere close to RM85++ for what you see in the picture above, they would definitely have taken an arm and a leg!(In fact, we probably wouldn't even pay RM 45 for this small portion off a normal priced menu, which was how much the deal cost). To be fair, the scallops were fresh and the cream sauce was tasty. But to label this a deal meant for 2 to share was really ridiculous. It was not a good start to the night.
