可选择沾在冰棒上的Hazelnut/Almond/Pistachio,也在口感方面加了好多分哦。一不小心试了好多口味哦。可喜的是Stickhouse还有好多新口味可以继续尝试! continue reading

Just before heading to this dessert outlet that serves 100% natural and genuine ingredients without artificial flavoring and preservatives, I was having a thought of taking my lunch at one of the many eateries that are available at The Gardens/Mid Valley Megamall. But to my dismay when I arrived, most outlets that I wanted to eat in were packed to the brim and had a line of people waiting to be seated. So I decided to just skip it and dive straight to the Gelatos and Sorbets and have it as my lunch instead!Yeah, I know it sounds crazy but this is one those crazy things that I felt like doing at that moment. Did I succeed? How many did I gobbled down? Did I get a stomachache later that day or a day later? Find out later! We were given the freedom to pick and choose any flavors that are available when we were there and eat to our hearts content. Many of the flavors are common with 2 that are unique to me.The unique flavors are a mixture of 2 flavors together.By the way, those that are fruit flavor are Sorbets while the rest are Gelatos.Of course, I started off with the unique ones there the Gianduia:The Gianduia is a mixture flavor of Hazelnut and Chocolate. By the way, all of the ice creams can add on dipping like chocolate sauce and such and toppings to be coated like Hazelnuts, Almonds and Pistachios. The Gianduia flavor consists mainly of chocolate taste with the toppings adding additional crunch and nutty taste to it.The next I tried was another unique flavor which is the Vanilla + Pistachio flavor:Again the chocolate sauce coated with nuts provided the crunch and nutty taste to it but since vanilla was a milder flavor comparing to chocolate, it wasn't as overpowering over the nuts as the chocolate taste in Gianduia.I then proceeded to taste one of the Fruit Sorbets plain and decided on the Strawberry:Nice and refreshing. The sweetness is just right and not too sweet like how a lot of dessert places make their ice cream too sweet. Easy to bite through and doesn't flake apart, soft yet solid enough to hold.I next went back for a Gelato. And this time I chose Hazelnut with some dipping and topping half on:Hazelnut has quite a chocolatey taste to it and I regretted adding on the topping as it puts more emphasis of the chocolate taste. But nonetheless, the base was creamy and provides a pleasant bite to it.I later tried the Green Tea flavor:No surprises there that this weren't up to my expectation like most Green Tea Flavored ice creams since the Green Tea powder seems to be too apparent and feels grainy unlike other flavors which are creamy and smooth and goes down well with my palate.Still able to continue on to more sticks, I proceeded to have the Coffee Flavor: continue reading

Stickhouse, hailed all the way from Italy, carries a new innovative healthy gelato concept which suits my agenda of trying to eat clean =b Why so? Because Stickhouse Gelato are produced using only natural & genuine ingredients without the addition of artificial flavouring, colouring or preservative.Stickhouse serves up to 20 flavours in Malaysia, with seasonal flavour popping out time to time.Apart from the usage of healthy ingredients, the technique Stickhouse uses in the production of their gelato also makes a huge difference too. Most ice-cream manufacture adds air to increase the volume of their frozen dessert. In fact, the air added into ice-cream can go up to a whopping 120%! The quality and natural flavours of the frozen desserts are deteriorate, as a result.Stickhouse Gelato are produced using a slower churning method. The gelatos only have an average of 25% air resulting in a creamier & denser texture of ice-cream. The churning method also ensures that the natural flavours of the gelato are retained ;)Seems so tempting right? We were given the privilege to try out any flavours we wanted! After you've picked your gelato flavour, pick your desired chocolate dip and toppings!Chocolate dip :- Dark chocolate- Milk chocolate- White chocolateNut toppings :- Almond- Pistachio- Chocrice- HazelnutThe pricing for the toppings is RM3 for full dip/coat, and RM1.50 for half dip/coat.Weight watchers & health-conscious ones, don't fret! As Stickhouse only uses high quality chocolate which are deemed a "heart friend" due to its ability to keep your cardiovascular system healthy! Yogurt, coated with a layer of Milk Chocolate & HazelnutsThe yogurt was smooth & velvety. Really creamy and goes so well with the chocolate & nuts! Feels like I'm taking a bite of heaven yumm!Strawberry Yogurt with Milk Chocolate coating & tossed with Almond NutsAs zero air is added into the Stickhouse's gelato during the manufacturing process, the gelato produced is much denser & creamier than regular ice-cream! You can see how dense the Strawberry yogurt is from the pic! (: Each bite delivers a full punch of strawberry goodness.Grape SorbetI got a little jelak of the chocolate so I decided to try out a gelato without any toppings/dippings.The grape flavour tasted really grape-ish & real. It felt like as if I am eating frozen grapes, on a stick. You can see the grapes fiber inside the gelato too!Vanilla & Macadamia, drizzled in a little dark chocolate (seasonal)Creamy with an aromatic vanilla essence, this flavour won my heart on the first bite. The crunchy macadamia was a contrast to the smooth velvety texture of the gelato.Of course, it is not compulsory to completely dip your gelato in chocolate! You can choose to just dip half of your gelato in, or drizzle a little chocolate onto your gelato. The professional staffs at Stickhouse would be glad to comply to your wishes!Had a really great time trying out the gelatos (: Too bad I only managed to try out 5 flavours. It was too much for my stomach to handle haha (: continue reading

Stickhouse combines the homemade tradition of the Italian art of gelato making and the latest technology. They are now available in more than 30 cities globally. Currently, Stickhouse has 4 outlets in Malaysia spread over two states. In the Klang Valley, there is one in Sunway Pyramid, one in Citta Mall and another one in The Gardens Mall. In Penang, Stickhouse has a kiosk in the newly-launched Gurney Paragon Mall. The gelati here are made using 100% natural and genuine ingredients without the addition of artificial flavouring, colouring and preservative. The main ingredients or bases used to produce these yummy gelati are inulin, fructose, carob bean flour, sodium caseinate and egg white.Besides that, the production techniques used play an important role in making these heavenly gelati. Stickhouse's gelati are produced without adding any air (unlike most of the gelati outside). As there is no air added in the production, the gelati are denser and have creamier texture with very rich and natural flavours. Do note that the absence of air also prolongs the melting time of the gelati and sorbets. Hence, parents do not have to worry that their children will end up having sticky hands or messy clothings after indulging the gelati! So there was a family enjoying their gelati while we were having ours... What a sweet and happy family they are. These gelati and sorbets on sticks come in 23 flavours of choice. However, the flavours available on different days are subjected to the daily availability. Stickhouse also comes up with limited-time flavours during festive seasons such as the upcoming Christmas and New Year! The Go-Nut flavour is only available for a limited period of time. It comes with crunchy chopped pistachios coated with rich vanilla gelato. On top of that, this gelato is slightly dipped with dark chocolate and also topped with more pistachios which made this stick really, really crunchy! Definitely a must-try for pistachio lovers! The bestseller in Stickhouse is undeniably the Gianduia! Gianduia is made with a mixture of cocoa and hazelnut. This blend is just too heavenly and might be irresistible to chocolate lovers. Perhaps some people might refer this Gianduia flavour as the "Ferrero Rocher" flavour. Yes, it tastes just like Ferrero Rocher! I had mine dipped in dark chocolate and topped with hazelnuts which actually made it more tempting. Initially, I wanted this pistachio gelato to be dipped in milk chocolate. However, I was told by the staff that it would taste better if the gelato was to be dipped in white chocolate. And in the matter of fact, it tasted great with the white chocolate! So there you go... Pistachio with white chocolate and topped with chopped pistachios. I did not want the gelato to be fully dipped so that the chocolate will not "overshadow" the gelato. The Chocolate and Cheese Cake flavour will be made available in conjunction with Christmas and New Year at all Stickhouse outlets from the 15th of December onwards. Do give it a try if you are a chocolate or cheese lover!Choose the toppings and dippings of your gelati and sorbets according to the preference of your tastebuds. Since most Malaysians have sweet tooth, you can opt to go for add-on dipping with a selection of white chocolate, milk chocolate and dark chocolate where they are all pure chocolate and helps the cardiovascular system to stay healthy. If the dipping does not satisfy your craving, you can also go for topping from almonds, hazelnuts, pistachios and chocolate rice. The gelati here might be slighty pricey but they are definitely worth the price. continue reading

Ice-creams are a girl's best friend and what better way to mark my very first Open Rice Makan Venture but something sweet and my all-time favourite ice-cream, gelato. I am very particular when it comes to ice-cream and I never just eat any ice-cream offered to me. I do not eat the conventional ice-creams found in shopping malls, after all, why add extra unneeded sugar into my diet unless it is of premium quality. Hence, Stickhouse gelatos which are produced using solely 100% natural and genuine ingredients without adding articificial colouring, flavouring and preservatives like most ice-creams off the freezers in the hypermarket, is definitely my choice. My first taste of Stickhouse gelato was at Sunway Pyramid just because I was attracted by the colours and the new unique concept of selling gelato. Being invited to this food review gave me the opportunity to delve further into my favourite dessert - gelato, since I have come to love gelato the first time I tasted way back in secondary school when I was about 16 years old KL. One of the healthy ingredients of Stickhouse gelato that I give the thumbs up is definitely Inulin that is a vegatable extract that increases absorption of calcium, aids digestion and reduces cholesterol which is definitely the best tip that leaves us women guilt-free! The session began with Mr Shah, the Operations Executive of Stickhouse giving a briefing of how they make their gelatos. According to him, Stickhouse is a healthy gelato concept from Italy and its parlours are mushrooming in Europe, Middle East and expanding to Seoul, Manila, Jakarta, Singapore, Thailand, China and now Malaysia. Since Mr Shah said that the bestseller here is Gianduia, so naturally that was the first one I tried. The mix of chocolate and hazelnut culminated in a taste that was similar to ferrero roche which was bliss for my every lick. I also had the chance to self-dip my Gianduia in white chocolate and also pistachio and almond bits, behind the counter, an Open Rice special previlege. The Limited Edition Go-Nut flavour is their highlight this season. The ice-cream was coated with vanilla on the outside and is shaped like a Christmas tree, in a triangular shape. But for me, it just tasted like normal. The coffee gelato which I dipped in dark chocolate and also pistachio and almond bits was a great combo, that resulted in bittersweet moment the marriage between bitter coffee and also dark chocolate was just perfect. And that flavour, for me, THE COFFEE lover, was incredible. The light green pistachio gelato dipped in dark chocolate was quite tasty. The pistachio taste is not as strong as the one at Marches. The green tea gelato with dark chocolate coating and hazelnut bits would definitely make any green tea lover very happy. It was even better than the green tea ice-cream at popular Japanese snack branches in Malaysia. The dragonfruit with a little chocolate was just alright. The dragonfruit taste was not as strong as the one at Perfect Ice but perhaps it is a matter of tastebud difference since the photographer thought that it tastiest and recommended that. Like Mr Shah, I love the raspberry gelato with dark chocolate coating drizzled on top in zig-zags. The combination of chocolate with the sourish raspberry could not be more perfect for someone like me who loves raspberries and dark chocolates. One very awesome thing about Stickhouse gelato is that the gelato here do not melt fast like most normal ice-creams even if left for 20 minutes for picture-taking and all! Definitely a photographer's favourite prop that can still be eaten after all the work! Unlike normal gelato that usually melt within seconds, the one at Stickhouse does not! The secret lies in the method they use where they do not add air in making the gelato of Stickhouse. This is surely one place I would revisit anytime, especially where I can enjoy mini gelato sticks. continue reading
