No Chinese New Year meal would be complete without the obligatory traditional Yee Sang. Here at Tai Thong, they served the Eight Jewels Fruit Yee Sang, a unique twist from our traditional yee sang. They do have the others in the menu, but that night we had the very special, and surprisingly tasty sweet fruit yee sang.

I did like the Eight Jewels Fruit Yee Sang, especially the sweet fruits contained inside. We had various fruits thrown in, to be tossed for prosperity and luck in the new year. We were told the folks from Tai Thong actually experimented with various combinations before coming up with this perfected fruit yee sang.

A total of 18 ingredients alltogether, I was rather pleased with the ingredients used. The Tai Thong Poon Choy Pot is layered with 18 ingredients, which I shall take the liberty to list it all down as follows. We had the fish fillets, fish maw, dried oysters, black mushrooms, celery, sea prawns, sea cucumber, wheat gluten, broccoli, lotus root, white radish, poached chicken, fatt choy (black moss), conpoy, roast duck/ beancurd stick and finally Tien Jin cabbage at the bottom.

There were two different sets, one the Prosperity Poon Choy Pot, and the other is with the addition of 10 heads of abalone, named the Prestige Poon Choy Pot. It was indeed a very filling dish, one which can be shared from 5 to 10 people. The feeling of digging into the Poon Choy Pot together with fellow friends was an experience in itself, with a sense of closeness, as the ingredients inside the pot simmered in. One thing to note, for each order of Poon Choy here at Spring Garden, the limited edition poon choy pot can be taken home for free, on a first come first basis.

Sauteed prawns with superior sauce. We were feeling a bit luxury that day, so we ordered the prawns - sauteed style with superior sauce. The prawns were cooked with garlic and topped with some spring onions. The prawns were medium sized and they were fresh. It was succulent and juicy. The superior sauce was quite tasty and had just the right amount of saltiness.

Stir Fried 4 Treasure Vegetables. The restaurant is an upmarket Chinese restaurants and the ambiance was very conducive. The 4 Treasure Vegetables consisted of siew pak choy, small kai lan and snow peas. I was a simply stir fried version with minimal seasonings added. We get to enjoy the freshness of these vegetables and they were crunchy. It was good I would say.

Braised mushrooms with assorted vegetables. This dish was "surrounded" by broccoli. The braised mushrooms varieties consisted of button mushrooms, Chinese black mushrooms and fu chuk. The Chinese black mushrooms were big and juicy. The broccoli was soft. The braised sauce was quite delicious. It has the right amount of saltiness and the whole group likes this dish.

Braised beancurd with crab meat. The presentation of this dish was very nice, the arrangement of the ingredients were nicely done. The dish consisted of vegetables, beancurd, button mushrooms and carrot slices. The broth was eggy and sticky. The taste was slightly bland, as expected for a beancurd dish. The saltiness was not there. Overall, it was an ok dish.

Shark fin soup with seafood and pumpkin. The sharfin soup consisted of prawns, cubes of pumpkin and of course sharksfin. The sharkfin amount was very little but the other ingredients were a lot. The sharfin soup was quite starchy and it was not too salty. The prawns were succulent and fresh. The pumpkin cubes gave the soup an additional sweetness. It was quite nice.

Crispy chicken with Thai sauce. Based on its name, it came exactly like what we imagine for chicken in Thai sauce. The deep fried chicken was topped with kerabu-like sauce. This sauce consisted of shredded onions, cucumbers and chilli. It gave a tangy, sour and spiciness to the chicken. The chicken was crispy too. Actually, to us, it tasted like a normal Thai dish.

Home style steamed red snapper. Since the restaurant offers "home style" steam fish, we ordered it as we wanted to give it a try rather than the conventional steamed fish options. This steamed red snapper came with bits of red dates, needle mushrooms, Chinese black mushrooms topped with parsley. The sauce was brown sauce and it tasted quite ok. It was slighty sweet and not too salty.

一笼有三个蚝皇鸡叉包,还好不是很大个才可以吃其他点心。 剥开里面的馅狂冒烟,如果一口就咬下去一定烫到。包里有鸡肉块和叉烧,都黑黑一坨难以分辨了。蚝皇不是咸反而甜的,真奇怪。不过还是很好吃。点心都应该趁热吃,最好就一款一款的出,就不会被冷气吹冷了。

这里的服务蛮周到,服务员一直帮我们添茶。里面的冷气很强,冷的我们狂喝热茶取暖。烧卖吃点心必点的一个。这里的烧卖很大一颗,咬下去猪肉很结实,里头还藏了一个大虾子非常爽口。我一口气吃了两个,赞!

荔苑酒家也是大同集团旗下的餐厅。点心一定是其中不能错过的。我很喜欢吃萝卜糕,去吃点心一定叫这个。这里的萝卜糕煎得金黄色,外皮够酥脆。可是里面的白萝卜太软了,只有少许的萝卜香味。 需沾甜酱才好吃。

荔苑酒家里环境舒适,逛街走累了可以进去休息吃个点心。这里时常都有做促销,下午茶点心有50%折扣。黑椒蒸凤爪好像黑椒不够,甜酱比较重所以较咸。一份都有3-4 个凤爪,个个都肥肥胖胖,很有口感。

The decor was pretty simple, but we knew the price wouldn't be as simple, as any restaurants in KLCC were rather pricey to begin with.Spring Garden was having this daily dinner dim sum promotion of 50% off for any dim sums off the menu from 5pm - 8pm so we decided to order some dim sums to go with our main dishes.The dim sum were fairly nice, with large shrimps in the shrimp dumpling. The dim sum were fairly nice, with large shrimps in the shrimp dumpling. The taste was okay, but not exceptional though. Bear in mind this is after the 50% discount, I don't think it would have been okay if they charged me the full price before discount as I would have expected much more from the dim sums. On top of the 3 small plates of dim sums, we opted for a simple meal of fried rice, soup and a main dish.

Well, for these main dishes, I would say the soup was good and it's really healthy with all the ingredients inside. The Spring Garden Special Fried Rice was fragrant with lots of different meat thrown in to create a nice taste. I had to add a bit of soy sauce though to bring out the taste.
