THANK GOODNESS mom was in a good mood and wanted to treat her good friend to a birthday dinner. Of course I bugged her to bring me along which was no problem since that friend of hers adore me. Off to South Sea we went one evening and I was near exploding with joy because its my favourite place to get super good seafood.

We got the Wine steamed fresh tiger prawns. OMG THIS! IS! SO SO SOOOOO GOOD! Each prawn was super juicy and succulent, absorbing most of the tasty soup it was cooked in that also has very strong flavour from the crustacean. And the best way to tell if the prawns are fresh or not is by sucking out all the yummy guts from the head, which I had so many of and can proudly say that the prawns were just alive momentarily before being picked up from the tank to be cooked. SO SO SO YUMS.

Finally came the main star which is the crabs. We ordered two kinds, the first that arrived was the black pepper flavour and omg it smelled amazing. There was more than just the spiciness off the black pepper but also some curry leaves and secret ingredients. The spicy kick of the 'sauce' and wok-hei really enhances the flavours of the sweet & juicy crab meat.

Even though that was good, my ultimate favourite was the Butter Crab. The sauce was amaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaazing and there was a generous amount of it, coating each pieces of the crab and seeped into each nook & cranny there is. Plus there's plenty more at the bottom of the plate for you to spoon over your crab. Or like me, slurp it up by the spoonfuls.

CANT WAIT TO GO BACK. I'm literally salivating at the memory of this. ;-;

For appetisers, we decided to get a plate of these cockles. What we usually see being grilled on the street and these are absolutely different because these were HUGE in size. There was one or two that was equivalent to the size of my palm and being someone that really likes eating cockles, having two of these giant ones were super satisfying.

We also got cheese baked Japanese Snails. Imagine escargot but without too much garlic & butter, also with some more crunchy meat. This I liked a lot especially when it just arrived at the table because the cheese is still nice and melty, the snail perfectly succulent plus warm. I think I eaten the most of this because mom & friend were not exactly excited about the amount of cheese that coated the snail.

Stir-Fried Lala with Ginger and Spring Onions was also on the menu. Although I prefer the wine option, this was also pretty good because the scallions and ginger provided a very good kick. This was a favourite between the two adults because of the flavour, plus the clams were nicely sized so it was super plump and juicy.

Just to make up for the lack of green in our diet, we also ordered the Paku Stir Fried in Belacan. This was only mediocre and personally, I think we can get better ones at a regular thai restaurant.

All in all, the service at South Sea never fails as servers are kind and attentive without any sort of sour face. Plus the decor at the restaurant was also very nice and I liked that there was a seperate area where one can go to choose & examine what kind of seafood they would like to order. Also there is a wine room for those who enjoy a sip or two of wine while they enjoy their dinner.

Although the price were a little on the steep side, it is a good place to visit if you're in the mood for something slightly more fancy. Plus the great food quality and taste do make up for the price.

It was a good friend's birthday that month, so everybody gathered and decided to enjoy a really good dinner to celebrate those that were born in the same month's birthday together.

As a result, we all decided to splurge on a good meal since it is considered a 'big' celebration. Everybody opted for seafood so the first choice to go to is South Sea Seafood Restaurant.

When we arrived, we were ushered to our pre-booked table almost instantly and the staffs were incredibly attentive. No plate was left dirty after we were done with one course and there was no need for us to be waving our hands like mad person whenever we eneded something. Nobody had a sour face safe for maybe one but that is pretty much acceptable.

Already we were starting our dinner great and we were soon lead to the place where many kinds of live seafood were kept in tanks. Some we have been familiar with and then there were some that we never even thought existed, but we had one seafood in mind.

Lobster is on the menu priced at Rm51.80 per100gms! This is huge one too which was still moving about and living it's own life in the tank with many other of it's own kind, until one of the staff plucked this crustacean out and served it to our table. Enough to serve a table of almost 10 people.

There were several ways which was given to us to have it cooked - cheese baked, stir-fried, sang har noodles style, sashimi style and the list goes on. The first option sounded the best, but because we wanted to enjoy the sweetness of a formerly live lobster, eveybody went with sashimi style instead.

Which is interesting because they serve it in two ways.

First, the tail meat of the lobster is cut up into nice thin slices and put over ice to keep it's freshness while everyone tucks into their meal. Perhaps the chef was quick in his dissection but the lobster head left on our plate would occasionall twitch as if it were still alive. An interesting feat!

The meat is absolute juicy and sweet on it's own. Although they provide some soy sauce and wasabi for you to dip the sashimi in, I opted to ignore it just so I can enjoy the natural flavour of the lobster and was surprised at how good it was just raw without any form of seasoning. This is only available if the seafood is super fresh like it is as South Sea.

Midway through devouring our super delicious sashimi, the waiter brought out a portable stove and claypot where there's broth in it plus the other parts of the shell of the lobster and also rice. They left it there to boil while we finish up our meal.

Turns out they made sort of like a rice porridge with the stock and shells, maybe even extra crabs too from what I remember. It was incredibly delicious as it was bubbling hot and exploding in the taste of seafood.

Just think of how you'd eat rice with soup as a child, only times that by ten in luxuriousness with the two crustaceans used to boil the stock. Even though most of us were quite full by the times this was properly ready for us to enjoy, we did not miss the opportunity to enjoy two bowls of this at the very least.

At the end of the night, we were almost rm100 lighter in our pockets but our bellies were well satisfied with the meal. As much as we like the food from this restaurant, prices are a little bit too high for us to be dining here on a weekly basis. But for a special occasion, then this is a better choice amongst many other seafood restaurants.

Director ordered lobster, comes along with wasabi and soy sauce, either you wanna eat with cooked or uncooked, both also ok! The dead lobster on the table with it's fresh meat served together on the plate, even though it is dead, but it's hand/leg still able to move! I was... pity on the lobster! After finish eating lobster, staff will take the lobster and cut off to cook together with noodle! Once again, I stunned...

They have ordered other seafood like steamed big fish, crab, french snails~ Fish and crab I'm able to accept but the snail... oh no, I don't wanna try!

for most of the dishes, we ordered fried beancurd/tofu, steamed fish, and a couple of stir-fry vegetables. the vegetables were very fresh, and the one we ordered (couldn't recall the name) was special because it was so thin and light and chewy! unfortunately, it was kind of oily too, so after eating that you'd feel really thirsty. the fish, on the other hand, had a really nice soya sauce broth but the fish meat ended up a little fishy.

this is actually steamed egg, served in a crab's shell, probably to give a crab-meat taste and feel? other than that, it was nothing special besides the presentation, as the eggs were steamed unevenly so you can feel the rough texture and bubbles on the surface of the egg (signifying uneven and incomplete steaming).

other than that, their seafood remains yummy, especially their crab. i didnt manage to snap a photo of the crab, but the one we ordered was Butter Crab, served with melted cheesy butter and also their complimentary and must-have to go with, fried buns to be dipped with the butter sauce. the crabs were definitely the star of the day

We look at the aquarium area and saw these tiny Japanese snails in the tank. We haven’t had this for a long time and we decided to order a portion of it. The staff told us the Japanese snail can be prepared either cheese baked style or garlic style. We opt for the garlic style. Nevertheless, when the dish was served, the Japanese snails were laden with chopped garlic. Although too much garlic than what I expected, however, the garlic did not put me off. The garlic does not have a pungent taste.

We also craved for some soup, therefore, ordered this clams in chinese wine soup. The clams were small but meaty and fresh. A small portion apparently has a plenty of the clams. It was nice that the clams were cleaned properly without sand residues. The soup tasted herbal and with the chinese wine added, the soup was hot and delicious. There were some chinese “kei ji”, garlic, ginger, and spring onions in the soup.

At South Sea, there was abundance of fresh seafood to choose from. You can just walk to the aquarium section and start choosing the seafood you like. We ordered half a dozen of oysters. The oysters were really big and fresh. Some raw fish roe were added on the oyster. The oysters were meaty and tasted slightly saltish. The saltishness is derived from the sea water flavor. Accompanied the oysters were some fresh lemon. The oysters were lied on a bed of cold shaved ice to keep its freshness.

At this seafood restaurant, some of the seafood is best to be eaten raw. One of it is this seafood named geoduck. Geoduck looks like a giant snail without shell to me. The white, fat, meaty geoduck was sliced into thin pieces and laid on a bed of iced cold shaved ice. They will serve you wasabi and soy saouce for dipping. Alternatively, there is a hot pot of herbal soup and you can briefly cook the geoduck in the soup. Both versions are equally tasteful and delicate to eat.

I forgot the name of the fish, but the fish was steamed in soy sauce. The fish was a bit of a disappointment, mainly due to the fish itself. We didn’t quite like the texture of the fish. The fish meat was a bit rough. Normally we would prefer to have fish that have soft and tender meat when steamed. Since the meat was a bit tough, the fish did not exactly absorb all the soy sauce flavors. The soy sauce was actually light, non-oily and should go well with the steam fish.

Another best way to savor the freshness of the prawns is to eat it with minimal sauce. Therefore, we ordered the prawns to be done in white wine soup. The soup tasted similar to the clams in soup but for this one, the sweetness of the prawns was stronger in the soup. The prawns were no doubt very fresh and sweet. Looking at the reddish colored prawns were quite appealing.

Came to this restaurant recently with a group of colleagues after work to wind down and celebrate a recent milestone.

This restaurant has a huge billboard on the way to Subang Airport, in which gives the impression that the restaurant look posh and expensive.

Indeed, when we arrived it was quite full house, and we had to take a number. Once our number has been called, approximately 15 minutes later we were seated. The restaurant were posh, and well decorated. Of course, it has the usual aquariums for you to admire all of the different live seafood that they can offer here.

We ordered a mixture of vegetables and of course seafood.

First to arrive was the fried vegetables. It was fried with only garlic, but it was delicious as it was crunchy and has a light flavouring of garlic in it. The vegetables were a little oily for my liking though.

Next was the steamed garoupa. The steamed sauce was excellent, as it compliments the fish very well. The fish was steamed to perfection. It has a smooth and flaky meat. It has no fishy smell at all, which indicate its freshness. The meat were also plentiful, all in chunks.

The lala soup came next. This dish was a little disappointing, as I could smell some fishiness in the lala. The soup was sweet, however as it was cooked with sweet tong guai herbs. At the end of the soup, there were some sand, which really spoilt the entire dish.

Finally, the baked crabs arrived. It was arranged in such a way that the claws were grouped together, so each of us get to have a claw each. The meat was fresh and full of crabby taste. As it was baked, it retains most of the sweetness in the crab meat. Definitely the star of the dinner.
