Wow, i was amazed to find dim sum in japanese buffet too. If anyone is keen to have dim sum, just head over to the dim sum counter. Place our order and the dim sum will be served. Since there were no time limitation when dining at Shogun during dinner time, we took our time to try as much as we could. The dim sum we saved it to the last part. After all the food we sampled, we ordered a chicken bun. The chicken bun has too much bun than the chicken. The chicken filling was tasty, but too bad, too

At the tempura counter, assortment of tempuras can be found. This one here is the lady fingers tempura and the pumpkin tempura. I quite like the tempura batter, it was light and non oily. Even when i'm eating deep fried vegetables, i do not feel guilty. The lady fingers was slightly "old". I prefer the pumpkin than the lady finger. The pumpkin was sweet and soft.

Other soups available of that day were sharkfin soup, miso soup, and sweetcorn soup. When you have tasted the buddha jump over the wall and the ginseng chicken soup, i doubt you will give too much attention to these three soups. Do not expect to have real sharkfins in the sharkfins soup, it is cooked in the way that resembles the chinese sharkfin soup only. For those who love the sweet corn soup, the taste was not bad actually.

It seems that this is a common dish in the Korean cuisine. I have come acrosss this noodle a few times in the korean restaurants, but never had the courage to try. I thought the noodle made from sweet potato will taste sweet, and therefore, i never order it. Fortunately at the buffet, i have the opportunity to try this noodle. The transparent glass noodle was thick in texture. No, it did not taste sweet. It was like any other noodles stir fried in savory taste.

Since Shogun is a halal restaurant, the meaning of char siew chicken here is just a phrase to describe the chicken tasted like char siew sauce. The roast chicken was very tender eventhough it was all chicken breasts. Thumbs up for that. The char siew sauce was sweet and full of flavor. I like the roast chicken where some parts were burnt, that burnt part will give additional charcoal flavor.

After two rounds of food, i start to feel a bit overwhelming. I was looking around and come across the ginseng chicken soup. There, i thought having a clear soup may be a wise choice. The clear and non oily ginseng chicken soup was indeed very delicious and satisfying. It also actually help to ease some digestion. Love the mild ginseng taste that has a mild bitter taste. The chicken essence made the soup flavorful.

Pardon me my lacked of knowledge in japanese cuisine. I have no idea eel was from ricer. But this is what mentioned at the display, riverl eel kabayaki. When i select my eel, i have to look carefully not to select those fatty eel. I just can't stand the fat eels, they taste so jelly and disgusting. Taste wise, the sweet and sticky sauce was nice. Even the eels have some bones, so just becareful when eating them.

Like i mentioned previously, a variety of salmon dishes can be found during buffet. This one here is the salmon fish cake. Personally, i never thought of eating salmon fish cake, because i think the fish cake may taste too fishy. The chef here was good to recognize the powerful taste of the salmon, therefore the salmon fish cake has the thai sweet and spicy sauce. The thai sweet and spicy sauce managed to make this dish taste better.

Another popular dish from the chinese food section is the sweet and sour chicken. I think everyone loves sweet and sour chicken even if it is so common. I also can't stop myself from getiing a small portion to try. Well, the sweet and sour chicken was mediocre. The sauce was too watery. I like my sweet and sour sauce to be thick and sticky. The chicken was soggy after sitiing in the sauce for so long.

Sanma shojiyaki is a popular fish for japanese cuisine. The fish was somehow lightly baked or grilled with little seasoning. I think only a little bit of sea salt is added for the seasoning. The fish was a bit dry and i fins that the meat was quite tough. Even the skin of the fish was also tough. I suspect it was because it is served at the buffet line, the wuality of this fish can't be fully maximize.

For meat lovers, you will find the braised lamb shank from the buffet line. Although the taste and flavors was not very good, but i think for the buffet standard, it is still consider passable. The lamb shank was indeed a popular dish as i passed by it a few times and didn't managed to get a piece. After few more attempts only i got my lamb shank. The sauce was savory. The vegetable available at the chinese food section was the stir fy kai lan with salted fish. The name and the look of the dish will tell you this is really typical chinese food. No fancy name or ingredients, just the way the chinese restaurants will do it. I did not quite like the kai lan. The reason is because i think the kai lan was left at the buffet line too long, i think it was overcooked while sitting at the buffet tray. I didn't like the sauce too.

At the chinese food section, my all time favorite japanese bean curd was also in the buffet line. I think they management was very thoughtful to include all variety of food to keep everyone happy. The japanese bean curd was braised in the savory sauce that is similar to oyster sauce. There were lots of ginger, spring onion and garlic. The common way of preparing it, but still delicious.

I saw my other favorite item, which is the garlic bread. The garlic bread was of course located near to the soups. I love the garlic bread because they really matched well with the soup. The garlic bread has a mild flavor of garlic and butter, slightly toasted to crunchiness too. When dipped the garlic bread in the soup, the bread did not turned soggy too quick.
