It was the first time for my parents to come to Oasis. I brought them here after being introduced to this wonderful place by my friend. After searching for a cafe, finally I decided on San Nae Deul which is located above Asa Bistro. Dad ordered the Seafood Tofu Soup. The portion was too small. The rice for the bibimbap is white instead of purple like what I had at One Subang. The ingredients were quite tasty. I still prefer the purple rice. The BBQ thinly sliced pork was so tasty when barbequed.

The aroma is so fragrant and tasty. Incredible. I never liked pork but this is the best I have ever eaten. It was tasty to be eaten with raw garlic and also the BBQ sauce.

The side dishes were amazing and most importantly, refillable. My dad finished 2 plates of kimchi and bean sprouts. I especially liked the cold omelette with small pieces of seaweed wrapped inside. So I ordered 2 plates of those. We love the boiled potatoes cooked with kimchi-type of sauce. The french beans were very fresh and one can still feel the crisp and rawness.

We had hot buckwheat tea which was delicious and fragrant.

There was quite a crowd here too. Since the restaurant was located upstairs, we could see the beautiful scenery outside that has a lot of lights. Very good ambience for family and also friends' outings.

Feeling a little thirsty after having the meal, I decided to order the green grape ade, as it looked rather interesting from the menu. The drink came in a jiffy, full of crushed green grapes mixed with Sprite. The combination worked very well, as the sourness of the green grapes blended very well with the sweetness of Sprite, The only grouse is that the glass had too much ice, which diluted the drink a bit. Priced at RM9 per glass, it was slightly pricey but well worth the amount paid.

We were contemplating if we wanted to order more soup, as I absolutely must have kim chee soup when I patron a Korean restaurant. The waiter suggested for us to have the kim chee soup, and we agreed. Kim Chee Jjigae, or kim chee soup in San Nae Deul was very throat-scorchingly spicy. The soup contained lots of kim chee pieces, together with some tau foo, chunks of onions and some garlic. Priced at RM18 per serve, it was quite a decent price to pay.

Nakji Bokkeum, or stir-fried small octopus with spicy sauce was quite spicy, but very delectable. The small octopus were very fresh, crunchy and delicious. The small octopus were akin to the ones where you can find in Japanese sushi restaurants. The dish was served on a bed of lettuce, and the lettuce complimented the fried octopus well. Priced at RM60 for a small serve, and RM80 for a large serve it was slightly pricey but well worth the amount paid.

Samgye Tang, or boiled chicken with ginseng is quite delicious. A very herbal tasting soup with lots of herbs and a whole chicken in the soup. The pot was again very hot, and it was wise to take care while moving the pot around on the table, as I found out the hard way when my fingers were burnt. The chicken was boiled until very tender, as the meat literally fell out from the bones. Quite enjoyable!

Mok Sal, or Pork Boston Butt, I presume is from the buttock of a pig. I was expecting it to be very fatty, but since hubby wanted to have some, we ordered. To my surprise, it wasn’t very fatty, and looks quite manageable. The Boston Butt was grilled ourselves, as we couldn’t seem to get a waiter to do it for us, as by this time, the restaurant was full house. We enjoyed doing it ourselves, but we weren’t sure when they were ready. The meat was tender and juicy, and hopefully it was well-cooked.

Sam Gyup Sal, or three layer grilled sliced pork is a must-order for me whenever I go to a Korean restaurant. The layer of meat and fat was just nice, and grilling it for about 5 minutes produces a wonderful mouth-watering aroma. The three pieces of long meat would be cut into a more manageable size once they are almost done. Juicy and tender, the meat was very satisfying, especially wrapped in a fresh lettuce leave and paired with some garlic and green chilli. Priced at RM28 a portion, it was w

Cha Dol Be Gi, or beef brisket in San Nae Deul is quite delectable. The beef brisket is finely sliced, so it just needed a quick searing over the grill. I thought that the waiter actually overcooked the beef brisket slightly in the first round, hence it was a little tough to chew. However, in the second round, a different waiter came along to do it, and this time is was done very well. Priced at RM55, it was tender and succulent, definitely enjoyable, although a little pricey.

The dolsot bibimbap is basically mixed rice with various vegetables in a stone pot. The stone pot was extremely hot, hence it would be prudent to handle with care. The items in the stone pot consisted of a yolk of an egg, julienned carrots, some fungus mushrooms, pickled onions and Korean chilli sauce that tasted somewhat like kim chee. The entire bowl of items are to be mixed together briskly before the stone pot gets cold. Hubby was gingerly doing so, and the waiter offered to do it for us. Ho

There was some mixed salad as part of the side dishes. The salad consisted of julienned red cabbage, white cabbage, carrots and onions laced with some mayonnaise sauce. There were also some sliced cucumbers in it. I thought the mayonnaise sauce was too little. It would be better if there were more given. On the whole the side dishes were quite delectable. However, there were only seven given, including the kim chee. I thought that normally there would be more, but I guess it was sufficient.

The rice cakes that was served in San Nae Deul was quite delicious. The texture is akin a jelly, although less bouncy. It was quite a melt-in-your-mouth sort of texture. The rice cakes were doused in some chilli-like sauce, slightly spicy and salty. There were also some spring onions and sesame seed being put on top. The combination is quite nice, and feels rather healthy too.

More side dishes were coming in, and the next that came was the pickled radish. The pickled radish was crunchy and quite moist. The flavour is somehow familiar like kim chee, but it was definitely more sour and spicy compared to the kim chee that was served. The gourd that was served was also quite nice, and it is bland, which goes very well with the pickled radish. Very delectable.

I absolutely love Kim Chee, all sour and spicy, whetting my appetite for the main meal. The kim chee served in San Nae Deul was quite big sized, in terms of the cabbage pieces. The size of the serving wasn’t that big, just the leaves being used. The kim chee here was also not extremely sour or spicy, good enough for me. As the leaves were rather big, I borrowed their scissors to cut up the cabbage leaves to a more manageable size. Quite delicious.

The fried fish cakes were part of the side dish set. The fish cakes were fried well, with a bit of oil. There were also some sliced chillies tossed in for a tinge of spicy flavour. The fish cakes were served cold, so it was strange to me, however, they were still quite nice. Slightly salty, it was quite a good appetiser. Five slices of fish cakes, they were sliced quite thickly, hence giving it a good mouth bounce. Definitely enjoyable.

Most Korean restaurants that I patronise would serve side dishes, and San Nae Deul was no different. The first side dish that came was the fried brinjals. Two pieces of fried brinjals were done quite nicely. The batter was light, and it was not oily at all. Though it was not warm, it was still crunchy. Unfortunately, when we wanted to refill, they have run out. How disappointing.
