It was a rainy day and later than our normal lunch hour. I was thinking hard of where to bring my uncle from UK and suddenly I thought of Bak Kut Teh. Since the Ah Sang Bak Kut Teh in Sg Way probably ran out of ingredients at 1 pm, I asked my friend for recommendation. He recommended me to go to Yu Kee Bak Kut Teh which was so amazing. My goodness we went despite the heavy rain and my mother's repeated words, of 'let's just eat nearby!' So it should be good enough! My uncle kept praising the Bak Kut Teh which meant that I brought him to the correct place! The soup was sumptious and one could taste the herbs. The only downside is that there was too much hard tough pork meat. Thank god I told them that I did not want the fatty and oily parts of the pork. I liked the pork organs that were inside. I ordered a clear Bak Kut Teh soup with mixed meat (RM 12) for one person's portion and also another dry styled one for one portion (RM 12). Surprisingly, the portion was quite big and had a lot of ingredients inside. My uncle said that the dry styled Bak Kut Teh was very fragrant and delicious. It coated the meat very well. The foreign worker accidentally brought the Oily Vegetables (Or Salad Vegetables with Oyster Sauce) for only a whopping RM 4 for such a big portion! Can you believe the price? My jaw dropped to my chin when I saw the receipt! The You Char Koay cost only RM 2 for one small bowl.The Chinese Tea cost RM 1 per pax. The rice was very fragrant at RM 1.30 per bowl. Uncle said the rice was very fragrant too.Every table has a big tupperware of small chopped cili padi and garlic which made it easier for me who always finishes at least 2-3 plates of raw garlic! So I need not trouble the workers to keep bringing me the garlic. No wonder this place is packed even at 2 pm on a weekday so if you are looking for tasty, cheap and big portioned Bak Kut Teh, look no further than Yu Kee and I guarantee, you will never be disappointed.
