A colleague highly recommended this place on a Friday lunch one day. We were warned that it would take a much longer time if we were to come to this place for lunch. When we arrived, the place was jam packed with hungry people. We had to wait for quite some time to get a seat which fits all 8 of us. The moment we arrived, we were given a number and was told to wait for our turn.
Once our number is up, the waitress would automatically get our orders. The pan mee stall here only serves big or small, dry or souped version with only hand pinched pan mee, nothing fancy like chilli pan mee or such.

One thing I noticed is that the cooks literally just used their hands to toss the dough straight into the boiling hot water, and many times they were splashed with the water, but they somehow do not have any reaction to the pain. Amazing.

After waiting like for 20 minutes or so, our pan mee arrived piping hot. The pan mee here is very smooth. As the pan mee is the pinched version, there are slightly thicker or thinner parts of the dough. Surprisingly, the pan mee was so well cooked, even the thickest ones are cooked on the inside. The pan mee here is very smooth and easy to eat, if its not for the heat. Also, the chilli is very spicy but it complements the pan mee very much.
The soup is also very flavourful and nice with the anchovies and vegetables in it.

FOr RM5.00 (big) and RM4.50 (small), this dish is definitely very worth it, if you don't mind the wait.

So one of the places that I regularly visit to eat with my grandma is the Hokkien Pan Mee shop at SS19. If you're a Subang-er you probably know or have visited this place before because they serve superb pan mee, which I really really like so much. So when you go to the shop, you take a number like the one shown on the photo above. They have their own systematic way of serving their noodles without technology, which I find it so cool because they never like go wrong with their serving. They also serve you their chili and chopsticks after that.

You can choose either the soup or the dry version. I have never tried their dry version because I absolutely love their soup. One bowl comes in two sizes which is small and large. The one above is the small [RM4.50]. The noodles are actually teared manually by the people and then throw into their delicious soup to cook. And in the bowl there is some vegetable which i am not sure what's the name of it, some minced meat, mushroom and ikan bilis. I love love love their ikan bilis. It's not salty and taste so good. This is my definition of a good bowl of pan mee. Along with the chili sauce, gosh it's making me feel hungry now.

If you have not tried their pan mee before, I strongly recommend you do. Because I have not tried a pan mee that could compete up to their standard.

Hokkien Pan Mee @ RM4.50 (small) RM5.00 (big)
This is the traditional style of ''tear'' pan mee. Very different from the long noodles we have nowadays. The texture is smooth and each pieces are roughly the same size. It is quite soft and bit chewy. Serve it with the special chili sauce make it perfect. Besides, the pan mee comes with minced pork with mushroom, crispy ikan bills, some sliced pork and sweet leaves. Everything is delicious !

It's hard to find good traditional pan mee these days. The pan mee stall at Lian Heng in SS19 has apparently stood the test of time. The noodles are thick and firm, yet has a chewy softness to it. The sauce is fragrant, sweet and salty, with a viscosity that allows it to stick well to the porous noodles. The anchovies are crunchy, and the minced pork is strongly flavoured by the sauce. The soup is sweetened by the sweet leaves (which some places decide not to serve for free) and anchovies. I lik

I like the service style - you take a number first, and you can decide on your order while waiting. They will come to take your order when it's your turn. Therefore it's very systematic and eliminates problems of forgotten orders or missed turns.

Price is still very reasonable. I like to order mine with double of everything (except noodles).

This was the best bowl of pan mee I had. It had scored 4.5 out of 5. The noodle texture was very delightful. Chewy yet it did not stick to your teeth. The gracious topping of crispy fried ikan bilis, perfect contrast of texture. The shredded wood ear was sweet and complemented the saltiness well. The black soy sauce and oil was very fragrant yet not oily. Perfecto it was!
